Tony Hsieh - CEO

In 1999, at the age of 24, Tony Hsieh (pronounced Shay) sold LinkExchange, the company he co-founded, to Microsoft for $265 million.

He then joined us as an advisor and investor, and eventually became CEO, where he helped us grow from almost no sales to over $1 billion in gross merchandise sales annually, while simultaneously making Fortune magazines annual Best Companies to Work For list. In November 2009,, Inc. was acquired by in a deal valued at $1.2 billion on the day of closing.

His first book, "Delivering Happiness", was published on June 7, 2010, and outlines his path from starting a worm farm to life at Zappos. Tony shows how a very different kind of corporate culture is a powerful model for achieving success and happiness. "Delivering Happiness" debuted at #1 on the New York Times Bestseller list and has remained on the list every week since June 2010.

Most recently in October 2011, Tony was interviewed by Barbara Walters when she interviewed self-made super rich entrepreneurs. The piece included a visit to the headquarters of that was dubbed what "might just be the wackiest workplace in America."

In addition to his responsibilities as CEO of, Tony is leading the "Downtown Project", a group committed to transforming downtown Las Vegas into the most community-focused large city in the world. This transformation includes the coordination of the Fall 2013 relocation of offices from Henderson, Nevada to downtown Las Vegas.

Fred Mossler - No Title

Fred was born in San Francisco, California, and was raised in a small town, just north of the city, near the wine country.

After graduating high school, he moved to Oregon, where he attended Southern Oregon University. After college, Fred moved to Seattle, where he began his career with Nordstrom. Over the course of eight years he rose through the ranks with Nordstrom, living in Sacramento, Hawaii, and then back in San Francisco. While he founded the Merchandising Team at his responsibilities have grown beyond the Merchandising department. Fred's current position of "No Title" enables him to oversee a variety of departments. Although he is still passionate about product and enjoys staying connected with his merchandising roots, his responsibilities now include the Customer Loyalty Team, Human resources, Recruiting, Benefits, and Marketing.

Steve Hill - VP of Merch

Steve joined in 2004 to build the Merchandise Planning Team. 

Since December 2007 he has led the Merchandising Team which is responsible for the product found on's focus is to provide the best selection for their customers while delivering the best possible shopping experience.

Prior to joining, Steve worked at Nordstrom. During his 16 years there, Steve worked in men's sportswear, women's shoes, and men's shoes. Immediately before joining Zappos, Steve was the National buyer for Men's Athletic Shoes.

On most summer weekends, Steve can be found bbq'ing by the pool while his three sons swim and his wife works in the yard. In the fall, Steve never misses a USC Trojan football game and tries to catch as many 49ers games as possible.

Arun Rajan - COO

Arun Rajan is the chief operating officer (coo) of, previously holding the company’s title of chief technology (cto) officer from 2009 to 2013. Throughout his time with the company he has led the creation and execution of its technology strategy and roadmap, assisting in Zappos’ rapid business growth and scalability.  More recently, he has played a key role in creating and operationalizing Zappos’ Best Customers business strategy. 

His expertise ranges from business strategy and execution to software development, technology architecture and systems/infrastructure engineering.

Hailing from India, Arun grew up near Delhi and went on to attain degrees in computer science and information systems management.

Arun has been building and operating Internet applications since the mid ‘90s. Prior to rejoining Zappos in 2015, he was the cto of One Kings Lane in San Francisco, cofounder and cto of New York City’s Intent Media, cto of Travelocity Europe and, and was cofounder and cto of in Minneapolis.

A family man with two young daughters, Arun enjoys reading, traveling, hiking and running several miles a week.
