I was happy to be able to get these shoes. I use custom insoles due to my flat-footedness and the standard Chucks just hurt after prolonged standing. I got these in size 10, but wish I went a half or even full size down. It seems that the elastic in the tongue (the only thing holding the shoe on) is getting looser or stretched out the more I wear the shoe. I recommend sizing down at least a 1/2 size.
Beware, though they are slip-ons, they do not come with any laces as pictured. Soles come dirtied for that hipster look. I did have to exchange the first pair as the leather toe cap part was sewn on severely crooked (and mismatched the other shoe). It probably adds to the character, but it was definitely too off for me. Also they do feel almost a half size too big. I do use custom insoles which are thicker than the ones provided. A bit pricey for such a simple shoe, but they look great.
Good looking comfortable shoe, but the size is a bit tricky. They are using UK sizing, so remember to get a half size smaller to get the perfect fit.
These are awesome shoes. They are extremely versatile, they can be worn casual or dressy. They fit on the bigger side but are super comfy.Very fast shipping too.

Super fast shipping as always with Zappos. Make sure you order 1 whole size smaller than you normally do. I'm a size 10 in most shoes, ordered a 9 and they fit perfect. Only reason I gave them 4 stars is because they are a slip on that should include laces as an option (for a shoe at this price). They fit good but can see them coming off easily due to the elastic.
Great looking shoe, but very poor workmanship. I wore these twice and the stitching joining the upper to the sole began to separate. This was after normal walking (not basketball playing) use. For the price the construction should be much more sturdy.
I bought these shoes because Cons generally fit me well, and they look super cool. These shoes are basically a few pieces of material slapped together with no consideration to actual usage as footwear. There is no arch support at all. They would probably wear out after a few months of frequent use. They are not worth the price.
I bought these for my husband. I chose these over the snakeskin Converse by JV. I am glad that I did, the designs on the shoes were very subtle. It is not as pronounced as in the Zappos pictures, which is exactly what we wanted. Mu husband loved it. The sizing was similar to normal Canvas Chucks. If you are worried, I went to the Converse website and spoke to a representative to get the exact sizing before I came back here to purchase. As always, Zappos does not disappoint. The package was delivered basically overnight. I never a problem with Zappos, I love them!
I've been wanting to buy a pair of Converses for a while now. Coming from someone that has never owned a pair I must say that I really like them. I decided to step it up and get the John Varvatos' because I love their shirts so I figured I'd like their shoes too. They do run big though. I usually wear a 10 but these I had to get a 9.5 and it still feels a bit big.
A versatile, comfy, no-nonsense JV-Converse combo. A casual shoe that'll go well with many styles and occasions.
Even for Converse the quality of this shoe is lacking. The sole of one of the shoes has completely separate from the toe to about 1/3 of the way back. Fortunately I use some excellent sealant at work and can repair this but when paying this much for these shoes, Converse needs to seriously step up their game!
The shoes look great, but they tend to wear out very quickly. The bottom area with the white band and black stripe starts to come away from the shoe within the first couple of times that you wear the shoe. I had the same problem with another pair of Varvatos Converse shoes in the past as well. But I still like the shoes as I tend to wear them often and don't care too much about this. But if you are picky about this type of thing, beware. Also, these all-stars run big. I normally wear a 9 or 9 1/2 and had to go with a 8 1/2, and that even is a bit large.
I bought this for my husband, he is traditionally a sz 10.5 in a sneaker and based on the other reviews, I decided to purchase him a half size smaller. It's still huge! I am returning and purchasing a sz 9; hopefully that will do the trick. Otherwise, a nice looking shoe.

These are great looking shoes. I am sending them back for another pair. But I wore them for three hours and the stitching unraveled on the left shoe.
These shoes don't have much support and a thin sole but are great looking shoes and are well made. You can't go wrong style wise with John Varvatos.
Great shoe for the most part, but for not even having them a year the plastic where your toes are disconnected from the cloth part of the shoe. Wish the quality was a bit higher for an expensive shoe.
