Overall:

Love the shoes. Very comfortable. Run extremely large. I am normally an 11.5 or 12 in most brands but needed to drop down to a 10.5 in these Converse.

First of all, two big thumbs up to Zappos for their service. I received these shoes less than 24 hours after ordering them, which is my usual experience when dealing with Zappos. Now on to the shoes.\r\n I\'m a big fan of Converse slip-ons but wasn\'t sure if these are to be worn over shoes or as shoes, but I thought they looked cool so I ordered them. Fortunately, they are shoes. I wanted something to wear in rain or light snow and they\'re going to be perfect for that. They also have style out the wazoo. They look great worn with shorts (no socks, of course), too: I didn\'t expect that. I couldn\'t be more pleased other than they are pricey.\r\n For me, they run true-to-size. I wear an 11 but have to step down to a 10 in Converse, but not with these. If anything, they might run 1/2 size small. If I were to wear two pair of thick socks, I would go 1/2 size larger.

Overall:

Great shoes. Super comfortable. The only thing is that they fit very large to size. I usually wear 9s, but a 9 in these was way too big. I had to go down to an 8 to get a reasonable fit. Just keep that in mind when ordering.

Shoes are great, they feel very comfortable, just get 1/2 size smaller of what you normally wear.

I've always loved Converse so when I saw this shoe I thought it looked interesting and something different from Chuck Ts and Jack Purcells, etc. I've never owned a pair of John Varvatos line and hesitated at first when I saw the price. I took a chance and ordered them and have been wearing them for about 3 weeks. First initial reactions were that they felt very good on my feet, but just like Chuck Ts it's probably not a good idea to wear when walking long distances. I definitely think insoles are a must. Before I put them in, my ankles were hurting after a long day at the zoo. Only been walking with insoles for a few days; hopefully things will go better. The charcoal is more like a dark brown. When I think charcoal I imagine a very dark gray/black. The back Converse rubber thing is peeling off a bit too just like how Chuck Ts do. Some shoe goo would help, but I don't think I should be shoe gooing a shoe that costs this much. Overall I don't think this shoe is worth the money, but I'll still wear it as long as I can and get my money's worth, if that makes any sense.

The shoe does feel a half size larger than it's marked. However, this pair is my favorite and I've been wearing them strong for about 2 years. It's really too bad I can't find a spare for this great shoe.

This shoe looks great, but the feel is average. Being a wing tip, this shoe is long and narrow. The back of the shoe rubs on the back of my ankle. I've only had these shoes for a couple of days so I'm hoping after some wear they will feel better. I really like the way they look. I ordered a half size down and it's the correct fit.

These are the best shoes. Ever. Except one minor flaw. The bottom falls out. I\'ve owned four different pairs now over two year period, buying my fifth. Kind of expensive for only lasting a couple months. I don\'t understand because my regular chucks are indestructible. The longest these have lasted have been 6 months. The pair I\'m wearing right now just busted through after only two months, another $95 down the drain...

Very comfortable. There is only one issue with this sneaker and it's the same with all the John Varvatos sneakers: the laces are way too long. You'd think anyone who could create such great designs could also get the laces right. Go figure.

Converse by John Varvatos - I'm returning these shoes today. I ordered my usual size, 7, as most of the reviews said they fit true to size, but not so. They are a bit big. I should have ordered a 6.5, but they were out. They look great and feel good, other than being big. If you plan to order these shoes, order a a half size smaller. As usual, Zappos had fast shipping and great service.

In LA, we wear Chucks! Got my new Chucks yesterday; I love them. They are very comfortable, and I was actually a little surprised. I thought I'd have to break them in a bit, but they are great right out of the box. I did have to go a 1/2 size down. I first got my actual size 9.5 and they were too big, so, Zappos being so awesome, I got my 9's the very next day! The 9 fits perfect. I would agree that these shoes are narrow, but that is perfect for me.

Style and Comfort!These shoes look awesome and provided you get the correct size... they feel much more comfortable than regular Chucks due to the lining and extra cushion insert. I would've given an overall 5 stars, but they are pricey... style costs $$! Super fast shipping.

Nice but uncomfortable - I was overseas when I ordered this shoe and was so excited to get home a month later to get it, just to find out that I was so disappointed when I could finally wear it. It is so uncomfortable, that after just a couple of hours of wearing it I got blisters in my feet. The material is so stiff, that it may work out better for a man than for a girl...at least not for me. The shoe is very good looking but I can't wear it. I am returning them since I really think that for this price, they should really be more comfortable.

I loved these shoes. Fresh out of the box, they are beautiful and extremely comfy. Love the sleek lines and lightweight low profile-ness of them, not bulky like the Chucks. But buyers be warned, the color fades! It's a great dark grey, but after a month or two of wear, the color fades to a strange faded beige color. No, it's not due to exceptional wear or exposure to water as the color is fine where my jeans usually cover. This means that the color of my shoes are no longer uniform: faded beige around the front top and sides, and dark grey on the very top of the laces.

Nice shoes for short walks - About Zappos: Very fast shipping. Received my shoes on the very next day.About the shoes: Bought these Varvatos in replacement of my old Chucks. These shoes don’t have much difference to my old ones besides the rubber insoles that makes them feel a little more comfortable. Other than that, they are pretty much the same. Oh! And the price is two times more expensive than the regular Chucks. Good luck with your shopping.

These are sweet - So I saw these in a John Varvatos ad a while back, before they were actually released, and went to multiple high end department stores, the John Varvatos store, etc, and none of them had heard of them. So when they popped up on Zappos I ordered them immediately. I have the black winter boot version, so I had the general idea of how they would fit. I mainly like them because they are something cool and different than all the other JV Converse I have. I haven't seen anyone else with them, which I also like. In terms of sizing, I am a 13, and they are in line with how the other JV Converse are sized.

Love the shoes!I normally wear a size 11 in women’s, and took Zappos advice to order 1/2 size smaller. I ordered a 10.5 and they fit perfect. Really cool shoes, but are not too comfortable to wear without socks.

Just got my John Varvatos Chuck Taylors! WOW!!!!!! I had so much trouble finding the right summer shoe for NYC. These are perfect!!!!! I ordered them in white and it was a great choice. It was hard finding a good shoe and without a doubt these are them. Worth the extra bucks!!!! On top of this Zappos sent them priority overnight shipping at no EXTRA charge!!!!! WOW!!!!!! Absolutely the best shoe on the planet - I wear a size 10 shoe & the 9 1/2 was too tight so I would not listen to the advice of buying one half size down from your regular size. I wear these without socks everywhere I go & they are as soft & as smooth & comfortable as anything I've ever worn. Very pricey, but worth it as I just bought a second pair to save for a rainy day.

Stylish but way overpriced.I love these, but only because they look so good and there's nothing else that looks quite like them. I love the style. But they're nowhere near worth the price. The white stitching on the tongue started unraveling the first time I wore them and they're tattery (poorly made) in places where they shouldn't be. Also, I'd say the women's sizes run a little smaller than true to size. If I had it to do over, I wouldn't buy them at this price.

Very cool, with two drawbacks - I have about 10 pairs of JV converse, so I'd say I'm a bit of an expert :) I saw these and knew I must have them. I have two gripes however. 1) These are very low profile, meaning there is less vertical space for your foot/toes than most JV converse. I'm a size 13, and in order for them to fit comfortably I had to take out the insole and replace it with a thinner version from the drug store. 2) The silver rubs off a bit. If you give it a firm rub with your finger, you'll have some silver pain on your finger. I've only worn them a few times so far, so can't say how the color will last after months of use...

I love these shoes - I had to take out the sizeable "inner sole" that came with them, though. Otherwise, they are a perfect fit and very comfortable. I like the way they look. A great color and the sole is smaller and less clunky than some.

Great for anything - You can rock these with anything...To work with your khakis and button down shirt...or out to the club with your jeans, t-shirt and Room 101silver wear! It's all good with these Chucks...always get curious comments about the no-laces look...conversation starter for sure.
