Replacing older version - I purchased to replace a similar version from Cole Haan that had been discontinued. I have worn only a few times and the shoes are still a bit stiff. Otherwise they feel good and maintain the look I sought to replace.

This is my second pair of these same (exact) shoes. I'm a college-degreed professional, so personal (and professional) style is very important to me. Cole Haan is, by far, the most outstanding designer of contemporary--yet timelessly stylish--men's shoes. I would highly recommend these shoes to any gentleman who enjoys style, class and comfort. Yes, these shoes not only look classy, but they are extremely comfortable--I wear them with business attire, casual dress...I even wear them with jeans and a blazer for a cool, yet refined look! These are expensive shoes, but they are well worth the cost!

As usual the absolute, most outstanding service on the planet from Zappos.com. Okay Zappos that's your plug, now on to the shoes. I'm not really sure where to begin. Cole Haan's have become my shoe of preference because of style, quality, and variety of selection (this is the third pair I've purchased and all from Zappos at that). Yes, they are a little more expensive than some, but not as pricey as others, but and the big but is, you really get what you pay for. The color and quality of the leather in these shoes in beyond reproach, from the second I took them out of the box I felt like I was holding a work of art instead of a shoe. Not being used to wearing a loafer I thought they were a little big at first, but soon realized it just took some getting used to the fact that there has to be a happy medium to a slip on shoe. Big enough to get your foot in without struggling, yet close enough to the correct size to feel comfortable when wearing. I have avoided buying loafers in the past because I always felt they were too big when I tried them on in the store because of the first half of that concept. I will admit that I thought of returning these because of perceived looseness at first. Fortunately, the quality and style made me think twice and because I liked the look and quality of the shoes so much I decided I would just deal with it. In the end, I adjusted to the way a loafer has to fit to perform its intended function (fit without shoelaces to adjust) and realized the sizing was spot on. I hope that part helps others who have avoided loafers in the past, think of them as kind of a cross between a dress shoe and a flip flop, the only difference is once you get accustomed to wearing loafers they don't make the flopping sound, but they do still flip a little. Quality, comfort, style, and even the price make these shoes a pair that will be in your closet for a long time. Caveat, they'll actually spend more time on your feet than in your closet. If this is a style and color you are looking for, buy them, you will not be disappointed. One other thing - I purchased the "Torino Leather Co. 35mm Burnished Tumbled" belt in the "luggage" color (from Zappos) to wear with these shoes and the color is about as close as you could possibly get from two different companies even when held up to the shoes directly, once separated by the distance of your legs there is no way to notice what slight variation in color there might be, and my two items didn't have any variation to really speak of. Not your traditional review, more like the ramblings of a mad man to be sure, but better than a "I bought these for my husband and he likes them" review in my opinion. Hope it helped you make a selection. Regardless if you buy these particular shoes, definitely give Cole Haan's a good look for your exact style and preference, they are in my opinion one of the best shoes on the market. Also, you would be slightly on the crazy side, possibly even crazy enough to be considered certifiable, if you bought your final selection from anywhere but Zappos. There's your final plug Zappos. Keep up the great service!

The shoes were very stiff when new, causing blisters, but wore in fairly quickly. After six months, the soles split but returning them was simple. I liked them enough that I'm going to give them another try.
