These are the best boots I've ever owned. They fit great and felt like they were already "broken in" right out of the box. The construction appears to be excellent and I expect them to last many years. I live in Alaska and these boots handle the cold weather and give better traction on ice than I've experienced from some of the other "named brand" boots. I'd never heard of the Chippewa brand before, but you can bet I'll be purchasing more from them in the future.

I would (and have!) recommend Zappos to anyone. I ordered my boots 7 pm Wednesday night, and received them 4 pm Thursday afternoon. I was shocked, especially since I didn't get charged any extra. The shoes are great. I have ordered from Zappos before and have had no problems. The boots themselves take some getting used to. But I just wore them everywhere for a week and now they're fine.

I saw the 8" Chippewas over a year ago and knew I needed them. Of course there was no 6.5W at the time so I asked Zappos to keep me updated. Several times I got email regarding a different boot but finally this Fall of 09 it was the boot, one pair availible in my small wide size. Now the snow is here and every day I lace up my Chippewas and head out to the woods with my dog. These boots will last me the rest of my life(they can be resoled). I know this because my Chippewa barn boots are 30 years old and still in use.

These boots are very comfortable for arch support, the sole is a nice quality but the boot does make my feet sweat a lot, despite having a so called breathable liner. If you have sweaty feet do not buy this boot.

These boots were purchased for pheasant hunting, walking in snow and hiking in the Hills. The search was for a durable, comfortable, waterproof, easy on and off, boot and these boots more than met that criteria. The fit is perfect, in all areas, and they are incredibly comfortable in the field. The back zipper is much more convenient than laces, and the design completely protects the inside from the elements. Pro: Extremely comfortable. Totally waterproof. Easy on/off. Great support for hiking in the field. Adjustable strap loosens for street walking. Feet stay warm in cold weather. Con: Other than having the "clutsy" outdoor boot look, there's not much to dislike.

I work at a fire department and these boots work very well. They are very conformable even after having them on for 20+ hours at a time. They grip well even on wet and uneven surfaces. I would recommend these to anyone looking for a well made boot that will hold up.

I have been eyeing these boots since last winter. I am not a fan of regular winter boots and thought these might be a compromise, if they could keep my feet warm and dry. I did some research on Chippewa, and there are several models of these boots. I had hoped these would be the model that's waterproof and Thinsulate insulated given the price, so I took a chance and ordered in my usual size 8. When I got them this one is L26378, which is the waterproof soft toe version. I loved the way they looked. They felt a little loose on my foot, but I don't think I would size down. I would just consider wearing heavier socks. I got used to the roomy feeling as I tested them out. They were definitely not too long on the foot so not really a size too big or anything, just roomy. After wearing them a few minutes, I thought these might be a little heavy for regular wear, but I assume since they are made to be work boots, lots of women wear them all day, day after day; just need to break them in, maybe? I so much wanted to love and keep these, despite not being insulated, and I would have for looks alone, but for some reason the left boot hit my ankle bone in a strange way, right where the tongue meets the boot. Maybe it was just a bad match for my foot shape, or the very thick tongue. The right one fit fine, however. I didn't think I could tolerate the pressure on my left ankle for the long Vermont winter season, and for this price they need to be right. So back they went. Worth a try with Zappos great return policy!

Great boots, look good. True to size for me 10 Wide, comfortable, easy to break in. These are good cool weather boots (don't expect to wear these in summer). Would have liked a little deeper tread, but they are upland boots.

Real classic boots for a fair price. Removable insert gives room for any orthotic, or any comfort insole you prefer. Average arch. Feels like a Frye, very solid. Probably half size big but I like thick socks, my inserts are thick, and I am a wider medium width. Toe is not boxy- its tapered, thick soles good for the cold, and they are waterproof! Chicago winter- worthy!

Eight days ago we were pheasant hunting in Pierre, S.D. and a friend was wearing this boot. I commented on the great look and he said, "These are the most comfortable boots I have ever worn in the field, they're completely waterproof and I wore them all last winter. They're the best boots I've ever had." I came home, hit the Zappos button and, sure enough, they had 'em. Thirty six hours later they were on my feet. You got to love the service from Zappos. Well, he was right. These boots are 100% correct for size, in both length and width. They have great support and feel like a well worn glove right out of the box. It's only the 5th of October and we had rain and snow today, which is not my thing, but today, I was so happy as I put on my new kicks. All day comfort and they are everything my buddy said they are. Do yourself a favor and order a pair of these right now.

I don't like little bitty shoes. I like boots. I have worn a pair of these for about 3 years 90% of the time. I use mass transit for most commuting and I used to backpack a lot so I don't fear the walking and do quite a bit of it. I don't take good care of them. They are nigh indestructible. They're also extremely comfortable and good on my back. My fiancee who was really sick of them a long time ago insisted I wear a pair of Clarks. I did for a while, but I was having a lot of back issues (also due to a laptop I was carrying poorly). Switching back to the boots drastically reduced them. It's not a star killer, but the one thing that bugs me about all of the Chippewa boots I've worn over the years is that the thin cloth lining tears right out within months while all other parts of their boots seem ready to withstand a daily carpet bombing. Doesn't detract from comfort from what I've noticed. I would imagine these would last a long time for anybody using them once a week or less. I could easily see getting a couple more years out of these if I resole them, but I think I want a darker pair.

These shoes look great. They are very comfortable and require no breaking in. The weight on the shoe is very light due to the soles. These shoes provide good traction and ankle support. My only problem is they don't breath that well. It's around 90 degrees here and after about three hours my feet start to sweat. They should be great soon as we get to fall weather here in the south. Overall, this is a nice shoe.

The boots cost a lot but will last for years and have top quality comfort. The insulated tongue sucks because the tongue rubs against the shin bone if the boot is laced up. But I found that it was very easy to remove the large Kotex size (1950's size) insulation pad and throw it away. Now I can sit on my 2007 Goldwing with both feet flat on the pavement with the help of the 2 1/4" heel height.

The right boot at a great price! Comfortable right out of the box! Since there are only 9's, 9.5's & 10's in stock for now, my experience may be of help. I am generally a 10B (sometimes a 9.5--my feet are more narrow than medium) in most shoes. Bike boots and cowboy boots seem to be sized from the heel up as opposed to the toe down like shoes. From reading the reviews, I went with a 9 and they are PERFECT! Just to give you one last source of reference--if I place my right foot on top of a ruler, heel to toe measures 10. My calves are 14." These boots are not too wide like some of the Harleys. And, frankly, I like not having an inside zipper to deal with. Ordered these Sun. night, and I've already got them on my feet as I type this out to you Tues. afternoon! THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN NICE PEOPLE AT ZAPPOS!!!!

Gotta get ‘em - Got my boots about 2 years ago and they only get better with time. These are the real deal. So if you want the finest Engineer boot money can buy, look no further. Buy these boots to fit. Don't mess around with sole inserts or the like. They fit more like cowboy boots, so if you have a high instep, you may have trouble getting them on. The oil resistant soles grip the asphalt like nobody’s business. The looks speak for themselves.

About Chippewa

Chippewa Since 1901, Chippewa has been creating footwear based on simple, fundamental rules. Most importantly, they use only the best materials, the best construction techniques and the most innovative technology. The result -- unquestionably the best boots around. That's what we mean when we say Chippewa Integrity.

Initially, Chippewa started with only logger boots in its product line. Constructed of double and triple leather midsoles and hand-plugged outsole spikes, the logger boots were designed to assist loggers as they rolled the logs down the rivers to the mills. Based on that state-of-the-art boot, Chippewa gained a reputation for quality and began expanding the product line to include more boot categories.

The past century has brought significant changes in the need for quality outdoor work and sport footwear. Chippewa Boots continues to add new products to its inventory to meet the needs of its loyal following. As part of the Justin Brands, Inc. family, quality and craftsmanship continue to be the leading guides in its development, just as it has been for the last 100 years. Rugged as the land they walk, Chippewa. Live the Spirit.
