I work in the power systems maintenance industry where sites require work boots (some steel toe some not). Got these because they are darn stylish while still looking rugged enough for the job. By far the most comfortable sole I have ever had in a boot. Watch the size though. I had to full size down in order to get the right fit. Fantastic boot though. Highly recommend.

Excellent boot with great style. Seems to run a slight bit large - not sure it's quite a half size difference, but with thicker socks they fit well. Very stiff leather upper, provides good ankle support. Seems pretty comfortable even new, can't wait until they are broken in.

The Chippewa 6" lace up boot is a symbol of American craftsmanship. The heavily oiled leather upper is sturdy and will only get better with age. The Vibram sole is soft for comfort, but dense enough to provide miles of travel. It would be a fair assumption to say this boot will outlast its owner. I was extremely pleased with Zappos.com. I highly recommend this boot for not only a stylish, "dressier" boot, but also a long lasting work boot.

These boots are made with soft, oil-tanned leather. I wanted a pair of brown leather boots, with no insulation, and these fit the bill perfectly. I use them for casual shoes. Although they are soft, they do require a short break-in period. They are comfortable from the beginning, but they get a lot more comfortable after wearing them around for a while. They have three speed lace hooks, but the top/last eyelet is a regular one that the lace has to be threaded through. They have nice waxed laces that are a little more difficult to lace than I am used to, but once they are tied, they stay put. If these boots last as long as they look like they will, I will be a repeat Chippewa customer. Regarding Zappos, I could not be more impressed with the speed of service.

About Chippewa
Initially, Chippewa started with only logger boots in its product line. Constructed of double and triple leather midsoles and hand-plugged outsole spikes, the logger boots were designed to assist loggers as they rolled the logs down the rivers to the mills. Based on that state-of-the-art boot, Chippewa gained a reputation for quality and began expanding the product line to include more boot categories.
The past century has brought significant changes in the need for quality outdoor work and sport footwear. Chippewa Boots continues to add new products to its inventory to meet the needs of its loyal following. As part of the Justin Brands, Inc. family, quality and craftsmanship continue to be the leading guides in its development, just as it has been for the last 100 years. Rugged as the land they walk, Chippewa. Live the Spirit.

These Chippewas are an unsung bargain among classic work boots. I inspected the well regarded Red Wings and passed them by. For half the price of the nearly identical Red Wings get these American made classics, take care of them and they will last the rest of your life. I've been through a few pairs of boots in my 40 years: my Dad's Chippewas from the 60's, which came to me nearly dead, but very good looking. A massive pair of engineer boots that saw too much elephant poop to be allowed into the house (and were therefore retired before their time). And my last pair of Oxblood Chippewas which lasted through 3 resolings, thousands of New York City foot miles, a home renovation and 3 careers in 12 years. They only bit the dust due to neglect, too much plaster and cement dust and too long between oilings. I plan to make this pair last forever.

Fantastic boots that wear like iron. I've had mine for 15 years now, including lots of hours logged in hideous muddy/swampy conditions, and they look little different from when they were new--if anything, a little better. Eventually, the soles will wear out and I will need to replace them, but I'm confident that I will expire before these boots will. They fit nicely and are very comfortable for a boot, too; I give them 4 stars instead of 5 only because I know I have low-rise shoes that are more comfortable, but you'd be hard-pressed to find a pair of tough-soled work boots more comfortable.

I was set on buying a pair of Red Wing boots, but their sizing runs just a tad too narrow for me. These boots are a great alternative at half the price. Pros: a solid, well-designed upper, and comfortable fit (minus the insole, which I found too cushiony). Cons: laces ripped after two months of wear, and the sole has surprisingly little traction on snow or ice.

At first I thought, wow, this is one ugly boot. And let me tell you, the smell of leather is overpowering...initially. This is now the foundation of my wardrobe. I would like to see better laces and nicer, maybe round eyelets. Also, think twice before hitting this jobber up with any kind of leather treatment. I did, which killed the smell, but made it look like I was wearing cigars on my feet until enough of the sauce dissipated/evaporated (I still lube the inside, though). Real comfy on the inside and a must have for a pair of sturdy get-around kicks. Hard to beat for the price, wouldn't break my heart if it got beat up doing yard work. Get a pair just to have.

I wish the soles were a bit thinner so they would be more flexible. The boot has hooks for lacing them up fast which is good, but for some reason at the top there is grommet or eyelet that slows you down getting the boots on an off.

Darker than it appears in the photos. Tongue leather a bit thin, but everywhere else quality seems quite good. Sole stitching in particular is good. More comfortable than expected on first wear; seemed true-to-size. Overall, great boot for the price.

These are fantastic boots. I look forward to wearing them; they are hip and very comfortable with plenty of support. I own a pair of Frye belted harness boos, as well as several of the hipper Timberland City Boot and Chelsae models. These are my favorites. Simply well made and simple, with no glaring bells and whistles that would put them out of style in 3 years. For the money, an awesome buy.

After returning a pair of Red Wings that were totally uncomfortable, with no insole and a ridiculously narrow last, and which cost three times as much as the Chippewas, I got these boots. The difference is like night and day. The EE width accommodated my wide feet nicely and with their springy insoles, walking in these boots is a pleasure. The color is actually much nicer and deeper than this picture makes it seem, and a coat of Obenauf's makes the brown even richer and deeper. For a third of the price of Red Wings, I like these boots three times as much. I would order a half size down -- I reliably wear a 12EE and the 11.5EE was plenty big for me, even a tad on the big side.

Good quality boot. Thick leather and comfortable sole with good arch support. The fit of the boot does run on the large size. I normally wear a 10.5 EE. Reading the previous reviews on the boot I ordered a 10EE and it fits fine with a little extra room.

Great boot, quality construction and comfortable. I used to wear Doc Martens religiously until I felt the quality had gone downhill. Glad I found these! I wear a size 10 and had to down-size (to a 9) a full size to get a comfortable fit. Zappos customer service is top-notch. Didn't even blink when I had to return twice to find the correct size.

These are worth every dollar! I have been looking for work savvy and stylish boots for about a year and these boots were perfect. I get tons of compliments and they look great at and outside of work. They are ridiculously awesome with a pair tan/brown pants and jean coat with hoodie. They are perfect with your favorite blue jeans. The price is crazy high but the quality is worth it. Jump the boat, buy these shoes!

A solid pair of boots. They seem to run slightly large and a bit narrow. I normally wear somewhere between a 9.5 and a 10 and a 9.5 fits about right. They are a narrow boot. I do not normally order wide shoes, but I'll be exchanging the Ds for EEs. Great style.
