Real classic boots for a fair price. Removable insert gives room for any orthotic, or any comfort insole you prefer. Average arch. Feels like a Frye, very solid. Probably half size big but I like thick socks, my inserts are thick, and I am a wider medium width. Toe is not boxy- its tapered, thick soles good for the cold, and they are waterproof! Chicago winter- worthy!

The right boot at a great price! Comfortable right out of the box! Since there are only 9's, 9.5's & 10's in stock for now, my experience may be of help. I am generally a 10B (sometimes a 9.5--my feet are more narrow than medium) in most shoes. Bike boots and cowboy boots seem to be sized from the heel up as opposed to the toe down like shoes. From reading the reviews, I went with a 9 and they are PERFECT! Just to give you one last source of reference--if I place my right foot on top of a ruler, heel to toe measures 10”. My calves are 14." These boots are not too wide like some of the Harleys. And, frankly, I like not having an inside zipper to deal with. Ordered these Sun. night, and I've already got them on my feet as I type this out to you Tues. afternoon! THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN NICE PEOPLE AT ZAPPOS!!!!

Great boot, but runs large! I've been wearing these for a year for motorcycling. I even wore them to work one day last winter and they weren't super comfortable for being on my feet a lot (my feet hurt easily), but they work great for riding. Definitely order smaller than you usually wear. I normally wear a 9.5 and a 9 is plenty big on me. I think they've worn great and still look brand-new.

Looks great, a little big - I love this boot, but everyone is right -- it feels a half size larger than marked, at least. I wear mine with big socks!

Great boots, they definitely run large. I'm very happy with these boots, they look and feel great. The materials and construction are high quality for a very reasonable price. Heed the reviews regarding sizing, they definitely run large. My standard shoe size is usually a 10, sometimes a 9.5 depending on the manufacturer, so I ordered a 9.5 and they are quite roomy on me. I have to wear two pairs of socks so my feet don't slide around in them. I don't mind that in the cold weather because my feet stay toasty warm but when the weather gets warmer I'm definitely going to need insoles.

Since 1901, Chippewa has been creating footwear based on simple, fundamental rules. Most importantly, they use only the best materials, the best construction techniques and the most innovative technology. The result -- unquestionably the best boots around. That's what we mean when we say Chippewa Integrity.

Initially, Chippewa started with only logger boots in its product line. Constructed of double and triple leather midsoles and hand-plugged outsole spikes, the logger boots were designed to assist loggers as they rolled the logs down the rivers to the mills. Based on that state-of-the-art boot, Chippewa gained a reputation for quality and began expanding the product line to include more boot categories.

The past century has brought significant changes in the need for quality outdoor work and sport footwear. Chippewa Boots continues to add new products to its inventory to meet the needs of its loyal following. As part of the Justin Brands, Inc. family, quality and craftsmanship continue to be the leading guides in its development, just as it has been for the last 100 years. Third time's the charm? This is an update of my review. I had ordered the 91/2 and they were too big. I ordered the 9--still too big! I just got the 81/2 (I normally wear a 10) and I fear they may have to go back, too. These boots are very, very wide. Now the length is almost too small and they feel a bit "squeezy" but they still flop about in the ankle area. If I wear a size 10 normally and had to go down to the 81/2, I can't imagine what women these boots were really made for. It's too bad because I love the way they look and the price is right.

Runs BIG - These are great boots for the price but I'm returning mine because they run so big. I normally wear a 10, sometimes a 9 1/2. I read the reviews and ordered a 9 1/2. They are way too big, especially around the inside ankle area, like I'm wearing my boyfriend's boots or something. I have a medium to narrow foot, but they definitely run a full size too big. Order down a full size if you don't have wide feet. Other than that, they are great boots. I just hope the 9 I'm ordering will fit!!

First Time Rider - I tried quite a few styles on at bike shops, but I was limited to men's styles because I needed a wide width. These were perfect. I liked the style and they were roomy. I ordered half size smaller than I usually wear because of the reviews I read. I broke them in on a four hour trip and was still comfortable enough to walk around Key West in them.

These boots are very good quality for the price and all my friends think I paid a lot more than I did. Highly recommend.

Wow! You will LOVE this boot!! The leather is soft, well made. The sole has great traction and the heel is not too high to actually walk in after you get off the bike!! It does seem to run a little big, but it will fit well the first time you put it on! Not a struggle to get on either. Can't say enough about this boot. Saw the same in Sundance catalog for $300. before Christmas. This is a deal.

Kicking attitude boots - Great boots, nice thick soles and comfortable to walk in. I added an insole, but I do that with all my shoes and boots anyway, and I wear these with a thick sock. They are a bit heavy, but the leather uppers and Vibram soles are substantial and very well made. Intimidating boots!

Great boot - perfect for riding, but fashionable too. It took about 4 wearings to break in. They run about a size larger than I normally wear and are a little loose, but I wear thick socks so this was not a problem. Lots of ankle support. Will last forever. And as always, great service from Zappos!

Finally, a straightforward engineer boot in women's sizes!! First: Zappos gets my vote for superb, friendly customer service, fastest shipping and most generous return policy of any company I've ever dealt with. Thank you Zappos! This boot is exactly what I've been looking for. I ride a bike and most boots of this type made for women have a "stylish" platform-type sole too thick to fit under the shifting lever and unnecessary higher heels which aren't comfortable or even practical for actual riding. This boot is bullet-proof overall though be prepared to sacrifice a pair of socks as the unlined uppers will leave black dye on the material. They run big; I'm usually an 8 and even the 7.5 is a little too generous. Since "felt 3/4 size larger than marked" is not a choice to check, I'll say it here. I have a fairly broad foot with narrow heel-they feel a little loose in the width and pretty slippery in the heel (thick socks helped) but I'm just so happy to finally find a decent riding boot in my approximate size I don't care :-) I gave "comfort" 4 stars because the 11" uppers feel a little bulky while walking, but they will offer lots of protection for riding. They're well-made and worth the price.

You will feel tough in these boots - I really like these, they make you feel tough. They aren’t very feminine but I think that makes them cute. They feel really well made. I have Frye boots as well but those were 3 times the cost of these. I bought these on sale from Zappos. I usually wear an 8 but found for me the 7.5 wide fits me well. I love the arch support. Great boot, great deal.

Classic Style - Thrilled to see Zappos finally selling these boots! I had to buy them online from some place in the sticks of Tennessee last year and it was NOT what I would call a "positive customer service experience"... in any case, this is a great boot and a fair price. Chi-chi catalogues (e.g. Sundance) tried selling these last year for upwards of $300 - a total rip-off, and silly besides: people who appreciate the look and functionality of engineer boots understand the boot must be authentic. NaNa actually made boots like this in the early 90's and they were exquisite - slimmer in the calf and so comfortable. Unfortunately, they no longer do. These look so sexy with skirts and black tights, jeans, ratty work pants, etc. They're kind of heavy though, and probably looser than you might expect, so prepare yourself. Overall though, can't beat 'em (though you should certainly try - they'll last forever).
