This kettle is extremely easy to use and works very fast. It's also good looking and seems very sturdy. I would only warn you that it does heat up a lot (duh) so you really do need to be careful in handling it and keep any children or plastic items away from it while it's in use.

I gave this item to my son and his wife as a gift since I have had mine for years and am very pleased with it. I did not let the negative reviews influence me since I use mine every day and it has served me well. They are enjoying their kettle and have nothing but praise for it.

I am an avid coffee drinker but also love afternoon tea. While in England, I noticed the English do not use the stove to boil water and never the microwave for this purpose either. What they do have is an electric kettle that will boil water very quickly and then shut off when the water reaches boiling. I got so used to this system that when I came home I looked for a similar model. I checked all the other sites, and then I checked Zappos. They had the exact kettle I wanted, because the kettle separates from the base for easy pouring. I have used it everyday since it arrived. It has a beautiful brushed stainless surface and a very wide switch that lights up while the kettle is heating then shuts off when it boils. I no longer have anxiety if I leave the house about whether I shut the burner off. Zappos has free shipping which is a wonderful plus. I have a small kitchen, but the kettle does not take up much room on the counter. It is great for tea, coffee, and instant cereals. The size is perfect also.

Very nice, heats water quickly. I like that the cord isn't connected to the kettle. Also, I didn't realize when I bought it that it was insulated/thermal. I'm happy with how long the water inside stays hot. It is bigger than I expected, and a bit heavier than expected.

Great kettle! Boils water in about 5 minutes, and keeps it warm for an hour or so if you want a second cup. The base has space to store extra cord, so it looks neat and tidy on the counter.

I purchased the M677 for work because my favorite, the Salton/Melitta kettle I use at home, is no longer made. The M677 has a larger footprint and is bulkier, but it heats quickly, and is standing up to office use. The cord is sufficiently long. So far, so good. It's well-made and a great convenience appliance.

Pro: I very much like the aesthetics of the kettle and it performs excellently. This is a quality electric kettle. Con: The kettle is pretty heavy when full. I believe that it is insulated to double as a carafe. It would be too heavy for an older person. The water window is behind the handle and not read without some effort. My previous electric kettle was glass and I would go that route next time. I see that Chef's Choice offers a glass kettle as well.
Brands I'd also recommend: same brand but glass
