Start with the black Frye Cavalry (harness without the hardware), add some Ugg classic tall rounded toe (alas without the luxurious sheepskin), sport it up a bit with rugged tread and nice Dansko-like arch support, take out the bulk, but keep it wide enough for a thicker calf with jeans. The result is a very practical boot for wearing all day long with a skirt or pants/leggings. Wear comfortable socks for initial break in period. Especially around the ankles where the leather wants to bend in when you walk. But I think they will break in nicely.

Bummer! Super cute boot, excellent for leggings and skirts, but sadly, they are pretty tight across the top of the foot/arch and through the toes. And believe me when I say, I don't have high arches. They are so adorable, I'm sad to have sent them back. But I'm going to keep trying to find the perfect boots.

I am a huge Chaco sandals fan. Their sandals provide relief from my Plantar Fasciitis and provide major arch support. I was so excited to get these boots and am so bummed I have to return them. Like the other reviews said, when you first put them on, they fit a little weird in places. But once your feet get used to being in them, they become a great fit. The heel comes down a little lower, improving posture, and the arch support is great. My calfs are bigger and they were snug, but they fit. I wear a size 8 and I felt they fit me correctly. I had to return them due to my plantar fasciitis flaring up. They did not work for me, but you should not let that stop you from trying them.

The easiest way to explain fit is that they have a rain (rubber/gum) boot fit. So it's looser and will come away from your heel, calf, and shin slightly as you walk. The insoles are quite supportive and comfortable, so you won't feel unstable. The leather is very nice--thick, supple, beautifully colored and textured.

These Chaco boots are really great! They have supple high-quality leather and of course the fantastic Chaco arch support. I did not find that it took much to break-in these boots. I wore them indoors for 2 days and not too much walking. Have been wearing them to work for full days now with no comfort issues. Boots provide nice warmth for cold MN weather. Love these boots enough to get a second pair so I did.

Great quality boots...a little stiff, although perhaps they would soften up after breaking them in more? As other reviews mentioned, your heel does slid up when you walk and wearing thicker socks helps a little. Also area around ankle was roomy. I wasn't 100% in love with these, so I am returning and will continue my search for the perfect boot. Thanks Zappos for your great customer service!

I absolutely love these boots. The insole is just like on their sandals, and the size is pretty much the same too! I wear a 7 in the hipthong sandals, so I took a chance and got a 7 in these and totally lucked out! I wore these the first time out running errands, and there is next to no break-in time since my feet are already used to the sandals. These are a little loose fitting similar to rain boots, but they definitely do not clunk around as much as other slip on boots once you get used to them. I do have a couple of criticisms though for them. They are a little snug around my calves so it makes it hard to tuck pants into them but not impossible. They are also a little narrow, but not to the point of discomfort. Since the style is simple and not flashy (I got them in black and it is matte) and since they are well made, I am sure that I will be wearing these for years to come around town, to class and to work!

I love Chaco shoes and these boots are very cool looking, however, I feel the left boot was molded incorrectly as it feels like a huge lump in the middle. The right side fit fine. I will be returning them.

I love the boots great leather, Chaco support and would probably last a long time. Con: is they are tight getting your foot past the stitching across the bend of the ankle. Maybe it would stretch over time. I bought the 9 but feel I need a 9.5 to be able to wear thick socks with. Unsure what to do. But would recommend these.

I like these boots and decided to keep them, though I will wear them differently than originally planned. A little tight on the instep, and narrower around the leg than they look. Fine over skinny jeans, and great with skirts and dresses. I got a half size up so I could wear really thick socks and I think that is why the instep works for me.

I tried the 9.5 and was too big in the heel, will go back with the 9. So grateful that Zappos is so great to do business with. I generally wear a 9.5 boot so these may run a hair big.

I love these boots. I have a very high arch and have to wear arch support in every pair of shoes I own, but not with these. Did I say I love them! Got this boot for Christmas and they are the only pair of shoes/boots I have worn.

I am really enjoying these boots. They feel as good for my feet as my Chaco sandals and the size 7 I typically wear worked for the boots too. My one complaint is that the left boot tends to bend inward and hit my ankle bone when I walk, but I'm hoping this will go away once they're more broken in.

I love my Chaco sandals, and so...with the cold weather, I thought amazing Chaco boots! They are absolutely beautiful, a high quality leather, and the Chaco footbed that I love so well. They fit great, except they are a little on the heavy side, and my heels slip out quite a bit when I walk. It doesn't affect my stride, but it is a nuisance. I'm thinking about making some kind of "heel/ankle belt" Chaco should make a boot with its original strap tightening system.
