The CARRERA collection of sunglasses is produced and distributed by the Safilo Group who acquired the Austrian-based Carrera Optyl company in 1996. The brand is named after the trans-Latin American auto race, "La Carrera Panamericana," hence the brand's tag line,"Racing Sunglasses Since 1956." The CARRERA sunglass collection is based on the brand's original '70s and '80s popular designs. The styles come in a wide variety of retro frame color combinations including: pink/white, black/yellow, white/blue, orange/black, violet/white and green/havana. Many of the styles are also offered with gradient lens colors which take these retro looking shades even one step closer to the originals.
