Sending them back - I ordered these shoes for work. I have worn character shoes for work for years and thought this style would be nice to try. I ordered a half size larger than my regular size and that was perfect. I also ordered the wide which I need and that was perfect as well. However, the heel cup of the shoe is hard and comes up too high and digs into the back of my ankle. Also, the placement of the strap digs into the bones on the side of my foot on the strap origination side not the buckle side. This shoe hurt my foot just trying it on. It's going back.

New best character shoe friend - I love the way this shoe looks and appreciate the extra stability of the wider heel base as compared to a Capezio 2" - at least 1/8" all around. I did not have problems with the ankle strap rubbing. Also, surprisingly, I did not have a problem with the back of the heel rubbing as reported in another review and this is usually a problem area for me. The heel seam definitely comes higher up the back of my heel than my older character shoes - about 2 3/4" as opposed to 2 1/2". They were a little narrower than I hoped a wide would be, but nothing out of the expected for a Capezio. The shoes had very little break in period - I did have rubber half soles and heels put on. I am able to use my arch supports and/or heel inserts in these which as an older dancer is much appreciated. I purchased an 8W and am wearing them for clogging and folk dance (Greek island specifically). Initially I was concerned about the 1/2" difference in height between these and my older pair - but it only took one rehearsal too get used to the difference. I like the looks enough that I will also be wearing this shoe as a dress shoe. If you are not used to the higher heel, as with any shoe, you may want a larger size.

A little narrower than average - These shoes look beautiful and they are so light and comfortable on your feet. They are a little narrower than the average shoe of the same size though. A little bit tight on the toes.

Great look - I really enjoy this pair of shoes; however, they do seem to run about a 1/2 size smaller than marked. They look really great, but I don't know about comfort, since I still have the 1/2 size too small.

A+++ dance shoe - I have been wearing Capezio character shoes for many years (for ballroom dancing) and this new style is the best so far! The shoe is beautiful and has a nicely shaped heel. But even better than how it looks, is how it feels - the new design is VERY comfortable and has excellent support.

Too Narrow - Even with a foot that is a little wide, the wide width was too narrow, the shoes need to go back...

Perfect shoe, but I ordered wide width - The shoe is very comfortable, and fits better with width. I don't usually take wide but after reading customer reviews decided to order a hlaf size larger and wider. The shoe fits perfectly.

I ordered a 5 wide but it's still too tight and it causes pain on the balls of my feet. Maybe if I ordered a half-full size larger, it would be comfortable. I'll try ordering one of those sizes in beige.

Looks good, but... Definitely order longer and wider! NOTE: The height of the shoe in the back is too high and rubs the back of my ankle almost to the point of a blister. Shoe is too narrow to wear my arch supports in them.
Brands I'd also recommend: Professional Footlight is MUCH better fit!

They look great, but, as I have a wider foot due to no arch, they were way too narrow for me (this was the Wide Width).

Perfect for dance - These are so comfortable you almost (almost) forget they're on your feet. I've stood/danced/done blocking in these in rehearsals for over 3 hours and still been comfortable. I ordered them in my regular size (7 m) and they fit just fine. THANKS ZAPPOS!

These shoes are very uncomfortable. The lack of arch support with this size heel on a dance shoe is criminal. They are cute, and I do wear them from time to time but they are too uncomfortable to dance in. Such a disappointment for Capezio shoes.

NOT a wide width - There is no way this is a true wide width shoe. It is no wider than any regular width you'd buy off the rack.

Cute but narrow - Of all the styles of character shoes, I found these the most flattering. I ordered a wide width but they were a bit tight across the top of the foot. I was able to stretch them out by wearing thick socks with them for awhile. The back part rubs my ankle a bit, but overall they are pretty comfortable.

Just a few minor adjustments... I am a folk dancer, so I don't get to dance as often as I like...so I will keep the size I ordered and add a cushioned dress insole with a padded heel to give some extra support in the arch & move my foot slightly further up and out of the shoe. This will alleviate any problems on the back of the heel and will give more toe room. Definitely order a 1/2 size larger than street and if you are a med width order wide. The buckle is gold, which looks silver in the pic...I am going to paint mine silver by taping off the strap. The overall look of the shoe is cute and with the adjustments are very comfortable. From other photos I noticed the strap looks wider from the instep tapered out, this is just an illusion, as it is a standard Capezio strap. Btw, the illusory tapered strap was one big reason I bought this shoe! But they look great on the leg anyway!

GORGEOUS! A beautiful character shoe! Very pricey, but worth it. I use it as a tap shoe. Hard leather sole is very sturdy, but flexible enough. Heel height is perfect-sexy but not too high to dance. High quality leather broke in very fast, and bound edges didn't rub. I put in gel-pads for shock absorption at the ball of the foot. I recommend for serious dancers!
