These are super comfortable, and the leather is really nice and soft. I ordered my street size and it fit fine. I also ordered wide because I have wide feet, and they still are snug on my feet. I\'m not a dancer, I just like to wear them around the house and they\'re super comfy for that.
Other Brands Recommended by Reviewer: Bloch is also good, but you have to figure out a different size scale (which is easy to do with Zappos\' quick service and easy and free return system).

Great, basic, soft ballet shoe. First rate leather that stretches, but not excessively. Elastic strings and binding that are good quality, and are sewn in securely. Classic colors. A solidly designed ballet shoe that gives reliable support to hard working ballerinas.

You really should order up at least 1 size - These are great shoes for dance, theatre, or (for my use) wedding reception wear. HOWEVER, I have 3 different pair or Capezio's ballet shoes and you really need to order at least 1 size up from your street shoe size. They run very small.

I wear a street shoe, size 6.5W. I ordered the 6W in this ballet shoe. The length was perfect, but it felt like a narrow. I could barely get the shoe on at all, and I like to wear my ballet shoes very snug.

Best Ever Ballet Slipper - I bought these shoes when I decided to return to ballet for fun and exercise after about 20 years. In my younger days, I wore Capezios with a full sole. I feel that the Juliet with the split sole is far superior allowing the foot to arch more fully than I ever remember with a full sole. The quality of leather used for the Juliet is far superior and, I believe, is well worth the extra money. Trust me, you won't believe the buttery softness! The issue of size is a little harder for me to pin down. In Capezio tap shoes, which I have 3 different styles of, I wear a 7.5. The Juliet was unavailable in that size at the time that I ordered, so with crossed fingers, I went up to an 8. The fit turned out to be perfect. I know that our feet continue to grow as we age, so I'm not sure if my feet are a little bigger and my tap shoes continue to accommodate them as I wear them so often and they have been broken in so well. I have been considering buying a second pair of Capezio Juliets just to wear around the house. They really are that comfortable!

Additional Brand Information

Salvatore Capezio was born in 1871 in Muro Lucano, Italy. Uninterested in following in his father’s footsteps as a construction engineer, he became an artist of his own right, a cobbler. In 1887, at the age of 17, he opened his shop on Broadway and 39th Street, diagonally across from the old Metropolitan Opera House in New York City. Soon, the shop became a meeting place for dancers who would stop by to discuss their needs and to get a pair of his shoes. As Capezio’s popularity grew, dancers from around the world made it a point to visit him and purchase his shoes.

The innovation of the products that Salvatore Capezio created and the camaraderie he shared with the dancers molded the direction that his company would follow. In this image, the Capezio brand was established to promote and recognize ongoing achievements and participation in dance.

Capezio products remain in the forefront in quality and in technological advances with innovations like the split-sole, the stretch-insert, the Dansneaker® and the Tapsneaker. Capezio believes that their success is dependent upon the individual commitment of each customer to continually set new standards of creativity and performance, while preserving a reputation for dependability and distinction. Capezio pledges their support and dedication to the advancement of dance, theater and recreation in communities worldwide.

Comfort and fit - I ordered these just to wear around the house. I ordered a half size larger and probably could have gone up a full size; however, the leather does stretch and mold to your foot. They are very comfortable and even without the elastic strap, they stay on my feet. I will definitely purchase another pair in black; I ordered the rose quartz this time.

I am using the shoe for tai chi and will use it for other body work classes. Might be too slippery for yoga. Found it fit well, and it looks sooooo cool. Happy that it came in wide.

Excellent ballet slipper - This is my first experience with a split-sole ballet slipper, and I am hooked. It enables full floor contact with the ball of my foot for maximum flexibility and range of movement. The slipper itself is soft and tight-fitting, exactly the way it needs to be, and did not even slip off my heel before I sewed on the elastic strap. I would not wear this off the dance floor, but I recommend it as the perfect shoe for the serious (or not-so-serious) dancer.

Ballet shoes - I ordered these in my normal size of 12 for a house slipper. I am really trying not to go barefoot and I thought these would be great. They are wonderful and I am very pleased with the quality and the price. I am glad that they are an American company, I always try to patronize American companies, and Capezio has been around a long time.

Good simple shoe - Tends to run small a bit, at least for me. Should have ordered a half size bigger. Perfect for my Pilates workouts.

Ballet Beginner - This is my first pair of ballet shoes and I am so happy I picked these. They made me feel like a better dancer instantly. The split sole is great for maximizing your ability to point and get that dancer's arch. The padding on the ball of the foot makes my pirouettes flow more smoothly. They're light and comfortable and fit just right.

Comparison of Bloch and Capezio canvas ballet slippers - I ordered these ballet slippers at the same time I ordered a pair of canvas ballet slippers by Bloch. The Capezio Juliet II fits true to size and worked just fine for me. However, the canvas used in the Bloch slipper is nicer and feels more durable. I kept both pairs of shoes, as I will go through them quickly before this performance is over, but I recommend the Bloch over the Capezio. (Note: Sizing for Bloch is quite different. I order 2 sizes less than my street shoe size).

Capezio Juliet II Ballet Shoes - These shoes are perfect for my Pilates and dance workouts. After reading the customer reviews, I ordered up one full shoe size, and I'm glad I did! Also, I used the included elastic to help the shoes stay on more securely. I highly recommend these shoes for exercising.

Will serve its purpose. I initially read all the reviews saying to 'order up' and some to 'order down'.... well I ended up ordering 'just my size' and found I needed to 'order up'. So back they went and I 'ordered up'. Other than that, the shoe conforms to the foot well and the elastic tie helps with that. They will be just fine on the feet, as I do not want to be out on the exercise floor in bare feet. I will continue to shop at Zappos for ALL my footwear!!

Good shoe! I've been dancing for a little over thirteen years, and have always been in love with Capezio. This is a great ballet shoe. I am particularly fond of split sole shoes because they allow the flexibility to make a beautiful point. I like the small amount of padding on the inside of these shoes in the toe and heel area. The size was not accurate for me, however. I ordered my normal shoe size, as advised, and found them to be a tad too large to keep comfortably on my feet while dancing. I went a half size smaller and found that to be perfect, although a full size smaller wouldn't have hurt. Overall it is a wonderful shoe, just make sure that if you are using them for dance you order at least a half size smaller than you normally wear.

Love this shoe. Used to dance, but just planned to wear these around the house. They are great yoga shoes, the sole makes them very flexible... okay, I have to admit I have used them bellydancing. Ordered my street shoe size and they fit fine. I'm an 11 B Remember they are dancing shoes, not for outside wear.

Great ballet shoe! In normal shoes, I wear a 7.5. I have a slightly wide foot, but normally wear M. In this shoe I ordered "slightly wide" but could have even gone a bit wider. It is nice looking, very flexible, soft leather... A great ballet shoe!

Great dancing shoe! I purchased these shoes to wear for my wedding reception and have been wearing them to practice dancing, and they've been great! As comfortable as a ballet slipper can be and great extra padding to protect my feet.

Great deal, comfy shoe! This is a very soft and extremely comfortable shoe. I would recommend purchasing a shoe one size larger than your street shoe size.
