Tap shoes not much for tapping! I ordered these shoes mainly on their looks (I love flat Mary Jane-style taps) and on the description and previous reviews that stated they were for beginner tap dancers. Well, I suppose I am a beginner tap dancer (always stopping and starting again), but these shoes are not for ANY kind of tap dancer! The taps are super thin and pre-drilled into the plastic shoe bottom. Both the heel and the ball taps barely make any noise at all when you tap. Then, on the ball of the foot, behind the tap is a rubber grip that stops you from phlap-ing (is that how you spell it?). Your foot can't glide! The rubber grip stops your ball from gliding on the tap. It's poorly designed and I can't believe these are from Capezio. A real shame.

Twinkle Toes - Zappos told me to order these a full size larger...I did not and had to return them...for a full size larger!! They knew how their product fit...the service was amazing...I ordered them at 7:00 one evening and they were at my home by mid afternoon the next day and it was free shipping...they were great about returning them and getting the next size...before I even had mailed them back!! They are great...the shoes are wonderful no breaking in needed...

Good for my purpose - These shoes are fine for my exercise dance class. They came with taps, so I didn't have to order separately, but I like toe/back-heel taps, which this does not have. Fits smaller than normal size. Overall, I'm pleased for the price.

Not very comfortable-a little stiff and hard. But the cheapest tap shoe around. Bought it for a class; I'm generally satisfied

Additional Brand Information

Salvatore Capezio was born in 1871 in Muro Lucano, Italy. Uninterested in following in his father’s footsteps as a construction engineer, he became an artist of his own right, a cobbler. In 1887, at the age of 17, he opened his shop on Broadway and 39th Street, diagonally across from the old Metropolitan Opera House in New York City. Soon, the shop became a meeting place for dancers who would stop by to discuss their needs and to get a pair of his shoes. As Capezio’s popularity grew, dancers from around the world made it a point to visit him and purchase his shoes.

The innovation of the products that Salvatore Capezio created and the camaraderie he shared with the dancers molded the direction that his company would follow. In this image, the Capezio brand was established to promote and recognize ongoing achievements and participation in dance.

Capezio products remain in the forefront in quality and in technological advances with innovations like the split-sole, the stretch-insert, the Dansneaker® and the Tapsneaker. Capezio believes that their success is dependent upon the individual commitment of each customer to continually set new standards of creativity and performance, while preserving a reputation for dependability and distinction. Capezio pledges their support and dedication to the advancement of dance, theater and recreation in communities worldwide.

I think these tap shoes are very hard to bend in. They aren't very flexible or comfortable. They dig into the back of my foot while dancing.

These tap shoes aren't very flexible, making it nearly impossible to do toe stands. They aren't that comfortable after a half-hour of dancing, but they're not unbearable.
