I bought these in a training shoe size and they were the perfect fit and that was not the only surprise. I thought that these would be like every other cross country racing flat: style without substance, rigorously uncomfortable, grippy for only one or two races and, as most racing flats are, a calf ripping ankle biter. But after three hundred miles I have deduced the following; The grip is phenomenal on the cross country trails and on the track and you can feel your foot rolling through the lug configuration and finding grip. They are comfortable to wear even without socks because of their microfiber lining and simple sock guard. By far, to run in, they are the most comfortable racing spikes that I have ever owned, and all of that padding does not sacrifice the light feel and it is sort of built to hug your foot instead of trying to fight its natural movements. I have tested Nike Victory XCs and the Mach 13s feel the same if not lighter. One thing you may be wondering about is the orange and red shoe is the huge Brooks printed on the inside. But because they are so narrow and pointy, they do not draw attention or are hugely dominant in your appearance. Lastly, they are extremely durable and well put together. In the 300 miles total in these shoes and they still look brand new except for just a little rubber bending. But all of that being said, these shoes have a caveat. I have a very long and narrow foot that is still narrow for a 13(B) training shoe, and the Mach 13 shoe box fits snugly on the front of my foot. But overall, this is a fantastic shoe, probably the best racers that I have ever owned, just a little bit narrow for the normal person.
