Surprisingly short life. We have owned this toaster for a little over one year and it is already shot (with very moderate use). It does a nice job, but I expected it to last longer than this! I have to have my head examined for paying this much money for a toaster. I could have bought 3 toasters for the price of this one.

You know, toast is simple food - or should be. I’ve had several bad toasters throughout the years and when I moved recently, I was loathe to search for another that I knew would fall short of the basic task a toaster should do: toast evenly on both sides without burning them. I’m happy to say this toaster works perfectly. It has smooth automatic functions that won’t launch your toast into the next room, it allows you to toast "a bit more" or cancel any function at any time, and it toasts both surfaces of the bread to an even (end-to-end) color and perfect texture. Silly as it sounds, now that I found one I like so much, I’ve been finding more reasons to have toast.

I have bought many toasters trying to find one that toasts evenly on both sides. This has been the best one I've ever tried. I got rid of my others. As a plus, it looks great and is easy to use. It has a bagel setting, and I toast hot dog buns in it also. It's worth every penny.

This toaster has a tiny motor that raises and lowers the toast slowly - so cool! It seems to toast evenly. The darkness adjustment slider near the bottom lights up with a row of LEDs to indicate how dark or light. My favorite feature is the countdown function where the LEDs show how much time is left, followed by a short beep when the toast is done.

Works well. One caveat - I purchased the the same style of toaster twice through Zappos. The first toaster toasted unevenly. After surfing the web, I found that a few other folks had this problem. I found more pros than cons in regards to reviews of this toaster, however. I opted to return the first and reorder the toaster. The second one works very well and am happy with my purchase. Has some bells and whistles that I like that other reviewers mentioned such as the countdown LED lights for time and a mid toast button to check toast doneness. Only because of Zappos excellent return policy did I opt to give this toaster another try and I'm glad I did. Love Zappos!

I love this toaster. For me it was a little pricey but I ordered it. It is worth every cent. It cleans easily. it looks great with stainless products. It toasts so evenly. You press a button and the toaster grasps the bread and lowers it down into the toasting area. This feature lets the bread stand straight up and it receives an even toasting. Bagels are great. There is a defroster function. When the toast is finished it is brought back up and the toaster rings to let you know it is finished. Very sleek looking and not huge. Mine is on a narrow counter next to my stove and it looks great there. My husband loves it. It also has a row of lights that run across near the heat setting knob. The lights go off one at a time which enables you to see where the bread is in the cycle of toasting. I wish I would have bought the four slice more expensive one. But since my husband and I are empty nesters, I will keep the two slice unit. I love Breville products. I have their counter oven and it is fantastic also.

I like this toaster so much that I bought the convection oven. It is constructed of metal and has a substantial heft to it. But the heft is not the most important factor...the even toasting, the pop-up-to-peek feature, the ease of cleaning the crumb tray: they are great things about this toaster. I'm hooked on Breville!
Brands I'd also recommend: Le Creuset
