Mephisto

These sandals are extremely comfortable, have great arch support, a nice heel, can be worn with pants and skirts, and make my feet look good. They are perfect shoes.

I've worn these attractive sandals for well over a decade. I refuse to wear anything else in the summer. I manage a restaurant and my pedometer reveals I walk 14,000 to 17,000 steps and climb 45-60 flights of stairs a day. I absolutely could not do this without my Mephisto Altina's. I have a pair in black and a pair in brown. They are expensive but I buy a new black pair one summer and brown the following, buying a pair a year alternately. By the time I purchase a new pair, the leather is just beginning to be worn away at the edge of the sole. Most people would put considerably less wear on these pretty sandals. Worth the money.

I'll admit, I'm a creature of habit. When I find something that works I tend to stick with it. This is the 3rd pair of Mephisto Hurrikan's I have owned. They last for years and you can mail them back to Mephisto to be resoled. When I found they were available to Zappos, well that just made it all that much easier for me to feed my habit.

Bought my first pair of Mephistos several years ago in Italy and was able to wear them immediately with no break-in needed. So bought several pairs of them. Unfortunately, they are making them too narrow these days for my wider foot. So tried these. Although they are wide enough, they are also longer and the toe strap fits uncomfortably. The one on my left foot is smaller and makes my entire foot go to the inside edge which kind of rubs my heel. Wore them around the house a while and now the insole shows my foot prints so guess I will keep them and hope they break in because I've tried every brand I could find to get the support Mephistos have but to no avail.

I've been wearing these sandals for 15 years, one of the best on the market. My podiatrist said they were one of the best shoes I could put on my foot! They are very comfortable!

I tried dozens of styles in the expensive comfort sandals category and this is by far the best! I could not be more pleased with these sandals. Soft leather, arch support, toe support grip, all day comfort sole and they even look nice, better looking than Birks and more comfortable than Naot!

I was looking for a comfortable walking shoe that was a bit stylish. I ordered these but was not sure if I would keep it because they are pricey. After wearing them one day I am hooked. They are very comfortable, like a Birkenstock with a heel. The best part was that after the first day I didn't wake up with my plantar fasciitis and achilles tendinitis pain! Worth every penny.

The sandals are absolutely wonderful. I was weary of purchasing a thong without an ankle strap, but they walk like a regular sandal (without the flip and flop of other thongs). The support is wonderful and I think made of cork. They aren't great in water but they are the most comfortable sandal I've ever owned. They are also relatively attractive for comfort shoes, so I think the high price is reasonable. The calfskin color is a little shinier than the picture shows. Also after even just one wear there will be dark marks on the sole from your feet. It's not such a problem though because when you wear them you can't see it.

These are the perfect shoe. Awesome comfort. I love everything about them. Cute and comfy.

Well worth the money. This is second pair of this sandal I have bought in the last few years. Just wonderful.

I was really excited to try these based on all the good reviews, but unfortunately I found them very uncomfortable. They are so hard, it's like walking on rocks! The arch support area was particularly hard, to the point of being painful to walk in. One shoe was worse than the other, so maybe something was wrong with it? However, for this amount of money they should be perfect; they are going back. They do seem true to size; I would not order up. If anything, they seem kind of wide. Thanks, Zappos, for your excellent customer service!

I really love the look and feel. They have a really soft cushion when taking a step. They are pricy, but I do not regret the purchase.

I bought my first pair of Sams in five years ago. I wanted to make sure they were worth the money first, so I found a used pair of brown ones for a cheap price. I liked them so much that I immediately bought four brand new ones (one in each color). The funny thing is that I still wear that first pair (the used ones) almost every day, and they still have a lot of wear left! They seem to get more comfortable every day, and I am planning on getting the first pair re-soled if and when they ever wear out since the leather is even softer than the new pair. I have tried many different sandals, but I am happiest with these, and I recommend them to everyone!

If you have never worn Mephisto's Helen, you are in for a treat! Unlike most "between the toe" sandals these do not give me a sore between my toes! They last for several seasons and do not develop an odor like most sandals do. The spice (brown) patent is just what I wished for when I bought my first (black patent) pair ten years ago. Since then I have bought and worn several pairs in various colors - they are a hot weather necessity!

I had a pair of these sandals about 10 years ago but somewhere along the way they were sent to the thrift shop. While visiting my married daughter I saw her own 10 year old pair of these and borrowed them for a few hours. I had forgotten how comfortable they are! I mean, really comfortable. But here's the reason I bought a new pair: except for the inner sole which looked worn, the outer sole and the leather straps looked brand new. I actually thought she'd just bought herself a new pair of sandals. When I realized how the trustworthy Mephisto brand looked so good 10 years later, I knew I wanted an investment in a good shoe that supports my plantar fasciitis and my arthritic toe, is super comfortable, and must be attractive enough that my very cool young daughter also wears! And this time, they won't be going to the thrift shop. I'll probably get tired of them before they wear out in which case, I'll retire them to the back of the closet, only to pull them out 10 years later!

These are super comfortable! I absolutely love them! They run a size smaller, I am a 7 in sandals, but got these in 8 and they fit perfect. They are very soft and more flexible than the other similar sandals that I have tried. The strap is what holds the foot in perfect place, it does not feel like you have to hold the sandal it holds itself. Great design, look, and comfort.

Bought these to wear with my linen suit for a (sub)tropical wedding in Key West, and to wear them the rest of the honeymoon week. They are very comfortable, as other reviews state. The leather straps didn't chafe (was worried about that). And the front straps even protected my toes during a little dust up on my moped. The brochure in the package says to make sure you have some space around the foot, which would be good to know ahead of time. But mine fit true to size (ordered 44cm instead of 45 since I knew wouldn't wear socks). Just hope they wear well for the price.

These sandals are super comfortable right out of the box. I'm extremely hard to fit and these fit like a glove. Love the color, heel height, and excellent support.

The style was great, but this sandal did not have the arch support I need. I will order another pair of the Helen stlye.
