I absolutely love these boots! This is actually my second pair of Trekkers. I had a foot injury, had to get orthodics, so I had to get a larger size. I do not really do a lot of hard core hiking, but I wear my boots most days that there is snow on the ground. I live in Breckenridge, Colorado, so that is a lot of days. I had my last pair for over six years, and they really did not ever wear down. These boots are super comfortable, with virtually no break in period. I had a pair of Vasque Sundowners before, and they never really broke in or fit as well as these. The only negative that I can say is that they are a little heavy. They may seem expensive, but in my opinion are well worth it!

Fantastic boot! I gulped at the price, but was pleased right out of the box. Great details, and superb workmanship. Mine have about 20 miles on them so far, and don't have a mark on them! I haven't had one hot spot or blister. I debated about going half a size bigger, but the 10.5 has settled in nicely. They feel like they were custom made for my foot. I have a medium arch. I love the lace system, and especially like the post on the tongue, that holds it exactly where you put it! No pinching around the ankle, the back is just soft enough to give when you need it. These will take you anywhere you want to go! They are sturdy, perfect for hiking with a heavy pack. These are an investment, but your trip won't be ruined because of your feet! Zappos is the best internet store in the world!

Great boot! First used the Lowa Khumbu hiking fourteeners in Colorado. Find them comfortable enough to wear to work. Excellent fit and no break in required. Lightweight without compromising support.

I am currently in military service in Afghanistan. These are too expensive for me to purchase, but I am deeply in love with them.

Not as narrow as I expected. I wear a AA and this felt more like a B, especially in the heel, where I most need the narrow width. But, a 3/4 length insole/insert filled in the heel space enough that I think I will be able to wear them.

I sought out these boots because they come in B width. I have worn three pair of LL Bean Cresta hikers for over the past 20 years. These Lowa boots are equally comfortable, but are lighter weight.

I was expecting a more substantial shoe from this company and shoe at this price. Good enough for around town or light walking. Not heavy enough for work or hiking. Ouch.

This is, by far, the best feeling boot I have ever worn. The one exception is that the toe box narrows a bit too much on my right foot causing my third toe to feel the end of the boot unless I set my heel firmly to the back of the heel pocket and lace the boot tightly, which is not uncomfortable once I lock my foot in position with the third set of hooks from the top. This sets the laces below the third hooks and allows me to tighten the above two hooks independently. I wear size 15 and have difficulty finding a boot that fits. I will order another pair when available to use for the outdoors and begin to use the ones I have to work in. These are very supportive boots with good traction on any of the terrain I have used them. They are a great product.

I own a pair of Lowa hiking boots which are great. Needed more of a boot so ordered these. Stiffer, but very comfy. Leather interior plush and warm. Great boots!

These shoes are all about the ultra thick soles and the design. The upper material used is just average and nothing special. I personally see an imbalance of quality between the two. What you get is a shoe with a super duper sole but a rather unsupportive upper which doesn't support your foot as much as it should. Conclusion: very comfortable shoe with excellent arch support and comfort but not much stability when you tie the laces. My foot feels if they are coming out of the shoes when I walk...sort of like slippers. Sizing is right on. They were a gift and I love them but would not spend the inflated prices on these...there are other options for such a high price tag.

These are a very durable appearing, high quality, waterproof low boot with a couple of striking features. First, the rubber toe bumper is stitched and presumably also glued. I've had a couple of pairs of similar boots that where the toe bumper is just glued that were abysmally short lived with the toe bumper the first thing to go. The expected difference in lifetime, which I'd guess to be twice or more as long, easily covers the additional expense. Second, while I have found the arch support to be what I want, neither too much nor too little, what seems more unique to me is the support around the sides and in back, which gives them a really solid feel and again suggests that they will be a draft horse of a boot. Out of the box, they are quite rigid, but without sacrificing support, become a bit less so with a couple of weeks wear. Third, they really cover a range of wear for me. They would not function as dress shoes. But they readily function as foul weather hikers to casual shoes (with jeans or chinos) because they have about the same profile as a walking shoe; (i.e., Rockport or Clarks) so that it doesn't look out of place to wear them casually. But a walking shoe would start a serious and troubling conversation with my feet if I wore it in the conditions in which I wear this shoe. So far, I have only had the opportunity to wear them in temperatures ranging from 70 F to 20 F, but they are comfortable in that range and, I am guessing, a wider one. I've already been stuck in rains in which my feet were the sole dry part of my body. (:-)) They are a relatively rigid boot. My alternative casual/hiking footwear is a pair of Asics Gels (i.e., extremely cushioned) so I felt a need to add a pair of Superfeet Greens for the cushioning; with the Superfeet, very comfortable, and I anticipate will not need to be replaced for a couple of years with everyday wear. I found these to be accurately sized both for width and length. Kudos to Zappos for service that is so routinely outstanding that it is all too easily taken for granted.

Fine boots. No hot spots or rough rubbing spots that I could find. For full disclosure I wore the boots during a joint training exercise with CONUS troops during Army Warrior Tasks Training and was in them for extended periods of time. boots do run a half size small.

Purpose/goal: I'm older and a runner. I try to get a couple half-marathons and at least one marathon in a year. I say this not to brag, but to emphasize that I know how important it is to take care of your feet. Yet, despite this firsthand knowledge, I have always cheated when buying casual shoes. This fall I planned a trip to Europe with the intent of doing a month-long trek through a number of different cities - Berlin, Prague, Vienna and Aviano (it was wonderful). Prior to my departure, I spent some time reviewing and trying out different casual "trekking" shoes (ones nice enough to wear to work and even into a casual restaurant). Fortunately, I am an REI member and I took full advantage of the "buy them, try them out, and if they don't work for you, bring them back" member privilege. Sensitive to the need for both style and functionality, I tried a number of different shoes and brands before settling on the Lowa Renegade II GTX Lo. Pro/Con: Lava shoes run extremely small. I usually wear a 12-13, but with the Lava, it was snug with a 14. (I do wear an insert, though, which makes most shoes snug.) I bought a pair of 14s and wore them for a week. It was frustrating. They felt really good, but I found them to be tight in the toes - even the 14s. I took them back to REI and they told me that this particular model was available in a wide. Unfortunately, they didn't carry wides. With only a week before I was to leave for Europe, I panicked. I spend hours on the internet trying to find a vendor who really had a full stock of Lowa shoes. And Zappos came to the rescue. The sales person (I didn't trust the webpage that said they had a pair of wides - other sites had made the same claim) was extremely friendly and helpful. She confirmed the availability and I had my "wide" shoes within days. Shipping free. Quality to Purpose: The shoes are very well constructed. If you tie them loose, they stay loose; tie them tight and they stay tight. A good, comfortable feel for your feet. Price to Purpose: While I think nothing of dropping big bucks for running shoes, I choked a little at the price of these shoes. I scoured the internet and found that most retailers hold to the same price for Lowa shoes, with shipping options being the biggest difference between sellers. Do again: With no real "break in" time, I left for Europe. I'm on the plane headed home now. My touring of Berlin/Prague/Vienna/Aviano easily had me walking 5-10 miles each day on streets, cobblestones, stone stairs, paths, etc. And I have to marvel at how good my feet still feel in the shoes. While others on the plane have slid there foot wear off, I feel no such need. A good choice, a good feel, and, yes, worth the price. And I have a new source for shoes - thanks Zappos.

This is an awesomely made shoe. I so wish that it fit me! I agree with a previous reviewer that the heel is very wide. The front of the shoe is so comfortable and true to width but the heel is not.

The Lowa boot is the best boot I have ever purchased in my lifetime, there is no break-in period, feels like you've had them for years off the shelf. I've had two pairs of the Templest2's mid height. Now I'm under the understanding they dont make them anymore. and I cant find them oh well.

I purchased the Lowa Renegade based on previous excellent experience with a Lowa boot of a similar style. The Renegade is stiffer than the previous boot and, at least so far, does lift a little at the heel. However, I haven't had them very long, so they may still break-in some more. Overall, I am very impressed with the quality of the materials, the functional design and the style. Despite my comments about being stiffer and the slight looseness at the heel, I have no regrets at all about purchasing this boot and feel that it is well worth the cost.

Have had my Renegades for only a short time. I have a narrow foot and I'm glad this boot comes in a width other than wide. I got the same size as my old vasque but in a narrow this time the lowa fits a lot more snug and even seems to be about a half inch shorter, even with that the lowa feels much more comfortable. I replaced the shoe strings so I would have more room to tie them and sprayed the boots with silicone to help with the waterproofing. I am happy with these boots I love there looks and feel.

These are the most popular Lowa's. I ordered wide and they fit in general, but creased across the top of my foot when I stepped. This was uncomfortable.

I bought these boots not to do extensive hiking in, but because I have an advanced tendon problem in my foot, and even with my custom orthotics, my foot needs a lot of ankle support that I can't get in an athletic shoe. These are perfect! Comfortable right out of the box and a great, sturdy shoe.
