These definitely take a week or two for your feet to adjust. As this was my first pair of steel toe work shoes ever, I would have to say I'm rather content with the way they've felt around work. Slight blistering/irritation the first few days.
Ordered in a wide and fits perfectly! Love these work boots. Accidentally stepped on a nail and the nail bent over. Wow, that's a strong sole!
All delivered as promised. I'll use them again! I ordered just browsing the pics and turned out to be great shoes (little risk, since they pay the shipping back if you don't like them).
I've been wearing these boots for more than 15 years. very comfortable, weather proof hazmat proof. In kodiak alaska the daily user.
This boot is made inside out: the rough chapped side of the leather is on the outside, the smooth side faces the inside. I think it's an attempt to lend it some hard worn authenticity but the effect is like some pre-distressed jeans you'd buy at Target: tacky. These look much less appealing in person than they do online.
Both my husband and I are required to wear steel toe for work. I order this shoe for both of us. I found that there was too much padding at the toe and not enough at the ball of my foot for all day wear. He found them to be comfortable enough, but they ripped within 3 hours of wearing them. Not exactly a great thing for a work shoe. Shoes will be returned, but Zappos, as always, is awesome.

I was absolutely pleased with my purchase. I work at an asphalt plant and have diabetes. So its important to take care of my feet. These boots rock. They are comfortable but sturdy. I had a mishap with shipping UPS, and the nice kind people at Zappos went beyond duty to help resolve the situation. Very satisfied with the product and Zappos well done!
It's funny because I read lots of negative reviews so I almost passed on these Caterpillar Vinson boots. I am so glad I did not. Don't believe everything you read. They are the most comfortable and rugged boots I have have of the 4 pairs I have bought from Zappos in the past 5 years. As of writing this review, I have been wearing them every day for 2 weeks. Before break-in I wasn't sure if they fit but they broke-in fast...about a day and fit perfect. The leather is thick and tough but totally flexible. I was surprised. I'm psyched because this was the 2nd pair I tried this go-around. I love these boots! Zappos is wicked cool.
Right out of the box, I have to say, I'm liking these boots very much. Their construction feels very solid. I wear a size 8, and they feel true to size. They're very comfortable, stylish, and you can't beat the price! Now Caterpillar's got me looking at their other boots. Haha. Gonna need a pair in black! :)
Great boot, this is my second pair. I find it difficult if not impossible to find a boot that combines all the features that this boot does. I am involved in the building restoration field so I need something that will stand up to my typical working conditions and be comfortable too. Having a 6" boot that is insulated, waterproof (yet breathable) with a steel toe is a great find. Add to this the rubber toe protector and comfortable fit and I am completely sold. Typically steel toed boots wear out the toe leather pretty quickly if you do much kneeling in your work; the rubber protector eliminates this. Squatting down there is no binding of the steel toe into your feet which is all to common with safety boots. Though insulated I wear mine all year round. I work outside in the winter and have favored these boots with some wool socks over my heavily insulated winter boots. In fact I am considering purchasing another pair while I can still find them, my local store stopped carrying them; however, I was fortunate enough to find them on Zappos.
I bought these working shoes for my boyfriend's birthday for his meteorite hunting. He loves them and shows them to everybody! These shoes are true to size. He usually wears 10 or 10.5, so I bought 10.5 for this pair, and he can wear thicker socks. They are very cool boots and tough but very comfortable!
Very nice, well built shoe. Very large though, 10.5 are just shy of 1/4 longer than my size 11 Keens. You definitely want to order at least a half size down. I am returning these for size 10.

This boot did live up to Caterpillar comfort level but the sole of the boot lacked in toughness. I've owned at least 8 different Cat boots and most last about a year; this one only about six months before the bottoms started wearing through.
I've now purchased three pairs of these, two in the discontinued canvas version, and one in leather. I wear them every single day, so much so that I rubbed holes in the canvas upper; happy to have the leather version's durability. The soles are Caterpillar tire tread, i.e., indestructible. Comfortable, easy to pull on and slip off. 1/2-size smaller than my usual size fits perfectly. I wish they also offered them in black.
Boot runs a 1/2 size big, normally a 12 but had to go with 11 1/2. Fit seems to be okay other than that. Have not worn them enough to comment on durability. I do like the look of the boot.
I work on stage as a lighting and set builder. 16+ hour days are normal and wearing work boots the whole time cause blisters and sweaty feet. These shoes work great to resole all those issues and still conform to Osha requirements. They feel like I am wearing a regular tennis shoe and they fit great!
I'd like to buy this shoe, but it doesn't seem to fit my foot right. 11.5 is too big. 11 puts my big toe too far to the side of the point of the toe of the boot. I'd say that I'm a difficult fit, though. Can't tell whether I like the sole construction or not. It has a lot of Phillips head screws in the bottom that look bad ass but I wonder whether they'd loosen and fall out. I was willing to risk it and send them back to Caterpillar if it was a problem. All in all, seems like a great shoe, but it doesn't work for me.
I bought them about 2 weeks ago, at this time - not keep glue in sole and seam. Do not hold threads.
It s a good looking shoe but cheaply made the insole is very thin and after 6 mos of wear the toe separated, not that tough.
