I loved this watch. My 13 year old son helped me choose it. I needed to see the numbers right away and needed them to be big. It would be nice if the numbers were phosphorescent all the time. Anyways, I rarely took it off. I would swim laps, sweat on a road bike, wear it with a business suit (even though i probably should not have). The face scratched, and then after less than a year it just stopped working. It is at the jewelers now and I hope it can be working. I wish they made this watch in blue and white or preppy green and white...just to change it up a bit. I will say it did get a bit shabby looking over time. It absorbed a bit of dirt from wear and tear. I am sure if I had taken it to an authorized Suunto dealer all of the issues I mentioned would easily be dealt with. Overall I loved this watch.

Love this monitor. It's easy to use, accurate, and the strap is comfy. Much better than my Polar because it's so much more user friendly.

I've been very happy with this watch as a HR monitor. Easy to use (the instructions that come with it are not much help but the online guide was good) and the chest strap is comfortable. The watch strap works but is a little small for a man's wrist. I also wish it had a back light as the display is a little hard to read in low light conditions and impossible to read at night. For the price I'm very happy with it, though again, i only use it a HR monitor. I would not use this as an everyday watch.

I have had the steel, positive, rubber version for 10 years or so. It's a fantastic watch. One thing I particularly like is that it has all the features of the other Suunto wrist-top computer models but in a smaller package that looks as good when wearing a sport coat as it does when wearing Gore-tex. A couple of very very minor quibbles: most other Suuntos have a count-down-timer feature. For some reason, the Observer does not. Also, the alarm signal-sound is so quiet that it is almost useless. Other than that, this has been one of my best purchases ever. Full featured, accurate, tough, good looking. User-replaceable batteries. Just great.

The feature I like the most is the large, easy to read face with large numbers. I have used a Polar F11 for many years and I find this Suunto M5 display it is much easier to read. So far the display has resisted scratches very well. As other reviews mention: I would have liked more flexibility in selecting workout intensity/duration on a daily basis; the chest strap and watch band are no problems; and this women's model is the most readable in daylight, even pre-dawn, with light background and dark numbers. The chest transmitter does not synchronize with the treadmills and spinner bikes that I sometimes use, but that is not too much of an inconvenience. I later purchased the foot pod which tracks speed very well. It consistently reads two percent under the treadmill speed, but I do not mind that. I tried to find online instructions to calibrate the foot pod/watch speed/distance to my own stride as other foot pods can do, but so far I have not found a way to do so. The watch has amusing suggestions about workouts, but even more amusing are the suggestions on how much to cut back on calorie intake daily when monitoring my weight weekly. My Polar F11 did not do that, and I think the calorie suggestions are correct, along with following fitness guidance on what kinds of foods to eat or avoid. My diet (good or bad) trumps my workouts every time. My other fitness / triathlon pals who use HRMs and foot pods also liked this M5 display.

A friend found one on the bottom of a lake and gave it to me. I cleaned the corrosion off pretty easily and replaced the battery. Suunto sells a new battery, the cover/cap in the back of the watch, and the tool to take it off for only $12. The watch works perfectly! It's glass, not sapphire, so expect to get some scratches along the way. And the titanium case is pretty scratched up too, and somehow worse than the glass. My favorite feature is the thermometer. Though you have to take it off your arm for 15 minutes for it to be accurate. Still cool. I also love how it always displays the time, no matter what mode you're in. I wish it showed the date though. It displays the time, and day of the week, but not the date.

My wife bought me a Vector for my birthday as I recently was in need of a 'field' watch. I consider myself somewhat of a watch aficionado, and have been impressed so far. Have read complaints about the sensitivity of the face, but Suunto appears to have taken steps to correct with the crystal. Watch looks great, now it is just a matter of calibrating everything and then getting my head around the functionality. Watch looks great.

Bought this as a gift, works great with the heart rate monitor that it comes with. Large display makes it very easy to read while working out.

I really like this HR monitor/watch. It is not too difficult to operate. It has some features that are very helpful. The time display can be set to be very large. It will display your heart rate while you are working out along with the time. You can also scroll through to check kcals as well. The one thing that did bother me was; you have to purchase an additional Suunto movestick to use the online features if you want to download your history onto the computer. Not a big deal, I just wish that was stated.

I upgraded from the M1 to the M4 and love it! I wake up in the am and see exercise day on the face and feel guilt into working out (a good thing for me!). strap is totally comfortable and always reads HR. love the back light (upgrade from M1) and face smaller than M1 (women's).

I found the Suunto M2 to be just what my trainer wanted. It is easy to use and very accurate. I've checked the accuracy when I was on the elliptical and the tread mill. My heart rate on the watch and the machines was the same. So, when not on the machines, I know that my HR is correct. Also, the chest strap, I really forget I have it on. The watch looks very fashionable and is comfortable. I gave it an overall four because, even though the numbers are large enough, at my age, I need my glasses to read the prompts. If you have 20/20, you won't have a problem.

I really rely on a good heart monitor to keep me from overdoing it. This one's attractive and good -- accurate and easy to get going. For me, the screen is much too dim and I must constantly press to illuminate. If I had known, I would have opted for another model. The inspirational messages I could live without, but nice enough.

I own the Suunto Core All Military Black. So far I have been pretty happy with the altitude, barometer, and compass function. A few things to keep in mind before buying this watch. 1. You need to calibrate the altitude and barometer to get an accurate reading. You can attain this through a topo map and checking the weather report for the area you plan on using the watch. 2. The reverse display is hard to read at certain angles and light. 3. Backlight will blink when used in conjunction with the compass mode to save battery life. The bezel feels kind of cheap, it would have been nice if it was rubber coated. A great improvement to the Vector since it has a crystal face instead of an easily scratchable plastic one. I'm pretty happy with my purchase.

The watch is light and very comfortable on the wrist. The heart rate band and watch take a few minutes to find each other, but once connected work well together. The looks are slick but understated, exactly what I was looking for.

Great watch but doesn't have a full chronograph. It will count up in a workout 0-35 minutes but there is no alarm function to allow you to count down 30 to 0. I love the large size, the workout functionality, the workout reminders, and heart rate monitor. It's overall a great watch.

I am now on my third Vector and absolutely love and swear by them. The display is easy to read especially if you have vision issues. Most chrono watches are too small to read for me and Suunto solves the problem. I get about 2 years out of a set of batteries. I am about to buy a new one as the printed char tend to rub off over time and use (the only negative).

Overall satisfied with this watch and the look and feel have met my expectations from my past experience with a suunto watch. I like the minimalism in style and function. The locking feature is really nice and display is easy to read. It would be nice if the locking feature was also available during a break in the work out.

HARD TO READ in low light conditions, other than that it's a great watch.

I love my watch. I love red it is good for those who procrastinate. I can see the numbers easily. I wish I loved reading directions then I could use the heart monitor and other features. I just bought it because I loved the color and also wanted to glance and immediately see the time. I am tough on things and it has endured a lot and is still functioning. I love it.
