Icebreaker Reviews
These are wonderful! I ordered them for a trip to Antarctica, and they were a great base layer. They fit true to size and are well made. I would highly recommend them.
There were no reviews so I took a guess at the size. I got a size Med. and it fits perfect. It is body fit which means an athletic-tight fit. I am 5'5, 122#, 34C. It is ever so slightly itchy, but I've read if you wash it, it softens. I just wanted something for hiking that was not always the dri-fit polyester fabric. This is beautiful, albeit pricey. Love the scroll.
Big fan of Merino wool and this dress is fantastic! The cut is very flattering, I'm a pretty curvy girl and this is going to be traveling with me everywhere. Another great shopping experience with Zappos.
I live in this tee. It has a great, close to the body fit. It's warm (wool!), it looks good with jeans or wool skirt, pairs well with sweaters or jackets. It washer very well (I machine wash it in cold water, doesn't pill, stretch out of shape or fade. The neck was too low for me so I threaded a very thin elastic around the neckline. I am thinking of getting another one. I wish it came in other colors. Light grey heather would be great.
I love this top. I would be happy to have it in multiples. No itching or scratching around the neckline. And it looked great. No bagginess and yet it did not feel tight.

Icebreaker is the first wool garment that I have been able to wear against my skin. And, this brand runs small. I normally wear a medium, large fits great however, the band around the bottom is too snug. Other than that, they are comfortable and soft against the skin. Unfortunately, I need to return it.
Used these for days straight on a long trip - zero stink factor and they feel so soft against my skin! Perfect for snowboarding and even used them as an extra layer under my jeans when I needed an extra layer of warmth. They pack well, take up very little room, and I'm never going back to synthetic baselayers.
Never thought I would spend this much for a single pair of underpants, but these are absolutely worth the price. I purchased them primarily for travel and running (keep me dry and comfortable even in the most humid conditions and through the sweatiest of workouts. Also easy to wash in a sink!). I also like that they lack the clammy feeling of similar undergarments that are made of synthetic materials.
I was not familiar with Icebreaker until a friend in Australia who maintains an active outdoor life said that Icebreaker is his favorite, and that he swears by it. I cross-checked his rating by asking some friends in the south island of New Zealand (Icebreaker is a New Zealand brand) what they think. Both are female, both spend a lot of time outside. Same thing: they love it, they swear by it. My partner presented me with a 200 longsleeve top. I love it. It's downright mysterious in its ability to be comfortable in an unusually wide temperature range, and to keep me comfortable. I have fairly sensitive skin, but I can wear it next to my skin without any itching. And and like their ads claim, it doesn't "stink." Whether or not the prices are justifiable, I can't say. But I can say that is an extraordinarily effective and comfortable garment.
I'm new to the Icebreaker brand and have become an instant fan. I purchased these leggings a few weeks, ago the fit is great, they are very warm and not bulky underclothing. I also bought the top to match. I would buy this item again. I gave 4 stars for rating only because they were a little itchy while on the body, but I'm very sensitive to some fibers and was not sure if this is why I had a slight reaction. But this may not happen to you so don't be afraid to purchase this item, it could just be my allergies kicking in.
I was really skeptical about spending this much on a base layer shirt, but it's turned out to be a great choice. I've worn it on a couple of long day hikes and one backpacking trip. It doesn't dry quite as quickly as some of the synthetics I've worn, but it also insulates much better when wet. One hike gained about 4200 feet in a little over six miles. When I took off my pack to rest my back was soaked but I didn't have to break out the fleece to keep from getting chilled, even though the temp had dropped about 15 degrees into the upper fifties. I'm also sold on the "no stink" side of the icebreaker. I normally wouldn't go into a restaurant after a hike due to the polypro/fleece stink factor. I can get away with it in this stuff. 5'7" 160 lbs with a 42" chest and the large fits me well.
I purchased this shirt as a larger sized version of another Icebreaker short-sleeved shirt that my husband owns. The advertising on this shirt is absolutely true. My husband uses this Icebreaker style as a base layer when the weather promises to warm up during the day, and as a base layer for more formal shirts to keep those shirts clean and odor-free, in lieu of a regular undershirt. It does not itch, like other wool products. Styling is semi-fitted, not compression. The Icebreaker shirt does wick away sweat, dries in fewer than 15 minutes while being worn and remains pretty much odor-free for about a week. NO other shirt by any other manufacturer remains odor-free when worn by my husband, so that's saying a lot! When I can detect an odor (remember, about a week), I tear the shirt away from my husband's clutches and throw it in the washing machine (yes, it does say to hand wash) and wash it with other clothes using cold water to wash, cold water to rinse. (I use Tide with Bleach Alternative, Color-Safe, Original Scent, HE.) If we're on a trip, I wash the shirt in a sink and use the soap that the motel/hotel supplies. To dry from the washer, I just put it on a plastic hanger, after snapping the shirt a couple of times to remove wrinkles. From the sink, I twist out the water, wrap it in a towel, roll up the towel and twist the towel. Then I hang the shirt up on a hanger. In both instances, it will be dry in the morning, if there's any kind of air circulation in the room. The shirts are pricier than the synthetic fabrics that claim to wick and dry quickly and not retain odors. The Icebreaker shirt actually delivers on those promises. I'm looking for a good Icebreaker shirt for myself.

I fish the gulf of Alaska and Aleutian Islands. Our boat typically will make 40 day trips. I bought this particular shirt because I thought it would be fun to test Icebreaker’s claim that the shirt would go 60 days w/o getting smelly. Our first trip lasted 30 days with a turn around of 2 days in Adak. I washed all my clothes except the above shirt which I wore every day. My Gunden’s fleece pants stank bad. I wore those every day as well. So far so good on the shirt. 20 days or so into the next trip we decided to run into Adak again to replenish our water and grab some bait herring. At this point there was still no detectable odor coming from my shirt which I continued to wear daily. My poly propelene clothing though was getting fairly rank. I washed everything. I wished I hadn’t washed the merino wool shirt. After 50+ days, it had gotten so comfortable. It never did develop an odor even though the sleeves had gotten stiff with salt and fish slime. I love this product. Refrain from washing.
Be careful about sizing - From year to year, the sizing of Icebreaker basics is not entirely consistent. I have a pair of 260 leggings size S from years ago that are significantly smaller than a recently purchased pair of size S 260 leggings. Given this size change, I decided to buy the 200 leggings in XS. They were really tight! (I'm 5'4", 118 lb) I'm still happy with them though. Icebreakers are great.
Love this line of clothing! The Icebreaker line never disappoints: many of their tops feel cool in the summer and warm in the winter, and I am talking about the same garment! This particular top is thicker and therefore more suited to winter wear, awesome for cold weather running and biking. I love the merino wool fabric that is Icebreaker's trademark: it is soft and comfortable to wear, machine washable, fits great and does not absorb smells. In my opinion, it is well worth the extra cost over synthetic technical clothing.
COLD? Buy this for layering! This is one of the only items out of dozens that we bought, packed, and used for Tahoe snow! (Being a Floridian I had no idea what to pack) anyway, it's not the cutest shirt, not my style at all, BUT it is PERFECT for layering, & it keeps you warm, so 5 stars!!!
Great Shirt!Very lightweight. Absorbs perspiration into the lightweight wool and evaporates. Does not retain a "sweaty" odor. Much, much better than all of the expensive synthetic Dry-Fit and Accu-dry shirts I have.
Very nice for long johns - These are very nice and worked well as long underwear for a recent ski trip. I planned to wear them as leggings also, but after wearing them to ski, they do kinda stretch out a bit. The crotch also seems pretty long (longer than I am used to w/ low rise jeans) Overall though, they were very nice, thick, and kept me very warm.
"Slim fit" means short - Very nice, soft, comfortable shirt. Sleeve length is fine, body length is very short. Icebreaker as far as I know only sells "slim" fit items. I still like the shirt, but it does run small. I'd have to flip a coin to figure out if I’d buy it again or not.
