These shoes are great! I put mink oil on them right out of the box. This conditioned and waterproofed them. These shoes are very comfortable and do not hurt my heels at all.My wife says that these are definitely manly and not wimpy like loafers.

Not very comfortable. Neither the description above nor the reviews on this page are clear that these shoes are made of patent leather. If you're not familiar with what that is, it's leather that is finished so it has a permanent glossy look to it. It makes caring for the shoe easy, but leaves a cheap and stiff feel to the shoe. These shoes look fine, and in fact I've gotten a few complements on them. The problem is that they're not breathable at all, and the heel and sole are unnecessarily loud when not walking on carpet. Also, they take a long time to break in.

I love these shoes, although at the beginning you have to wear them out for a bit to break them in.. (but I think that is with all new shoes..) I originally purchase my first Bostonian pair from JC Pennys for a higher price. Zappos has a great deal, I look forward to ordering another pair in the coming days. \r\nI like the fact that they are shipped almost immediately. I received mine in two days.. Great service, I would recommend using Zappos to my friends & family.\r\n

Shoes are a little narrow in fit. Have worn 3 times and still get blisters on both heels. Good looking traditional dress shoe but not comfortable. Second pair of Bostonian, first pair was uncomfortable.

Cheap leather upper creased across the toe almost immediately. Within 6 months it was cracking and flaking despite never getting wet, wearing at most every other day, using cedar shoe trees when not wearing, and careful cleaning and shines every other week. Thin, cheap leather sole showed significant wear after a year, was worn through within 18 months. I see they are now using a plastic sole that looks like leather. No idea if that will last any longer, but be aware Bostonian no longer uses real leather soles. Toebox upper is too wide and loose relative to the sole. Felt like my foot was overhanging the sole, but the next size wider had too tight upper and ridiculously wide sole. I strongly recommend stretching your budget to around one hundred fifty dollars and getting something from Florsheim or Johnston & Murphy.

These shoes are the real deal. They are made of quality leather and have wooden soles. They have a stylish shape and design. I feel great when I'm wearing them, except for the back of my heels. While these shoes have enough support to be worn all day, the heel and toe take a while to loosen up. I've had them for nearly four months and still have to wear thick socks to avoid rubbing.

I have always like Bostonians, and this latest pair is no different. What I really appreciate is that I can order them and receive them in a few days and I don\'t have to go out to a store.

I just bought my first pair last week. I have been wearing them to work and I must say that these shoes is one of the most comfortable pair of shoes I have ever worn straight out of the box! I ordered a black pair and I will be ordering a brown pair in the near future.

Excellent dress shoe. Very comfortable, great arch support. Was a 1/2 size bigger than other dress shoes I own.

This is an excellent shoe, both in terms of style and comfort. It is great for a business formal atmosphere since it has a nice glean and a heavy-sounding step to it, which conveys authority. Initially, I was worried they would be uncomfortable, but they cause no pain or blisters whatsoever. In fact, I had to go on an impromptu 2-mile walk with my boss in these shoes on my second day of wearing them, but there was absolutely no discomfort. He even gave me a compliment on their look! Thus, I strongly recommend these shoes. I might even get another pair in brown!

Just what I wanted! Most people would probably agree these are good looking shoes, but I also found them to be comfortable right out of the box. The arch support is sufficient for me since I don't require much. I did need to order a half-size larger than other dress shoes, but overall I am very happy with them. As usual, Zappos service is unbelievably great!

I purchased two pairs of these shoes (brown and black) about 1.5 years ago. These have been very good shoes for the long haul - I work in a bank and wear these 5 days a week with a suit, and have always liked these shoes' classic look. These shoes do require some breaking in, but once your feet adjust these shoes are reasonably comfortable and solidly made (dress shoes will never feel like running shoes). As with any nice dress shoe, you need to regularly polish these to keep them looking nice and get rid of scuffs. I will probably replace them soon with another Bostonian shoe as I like this brand.

Shoe Size: Felt a half size larger than marked Shoe Arch: Excellent arch support Shoe Width: Felt true to width
Good value and good looking! After wearing the shoes twice, they are comfortable with good arch support; soles do not slip on carpet, even the first time. The width is just right, but they seem a little longer than athletic shoes of the same size. I first ordered my usual size 12, but the shoes were too big, so I had to reorder a half size less, which is a good fit so far. Customer service was a big help in exchanging the shoes.

Poorly made - These shoes aren't very well made. The tongue is barely stitched on, so that it slides to one side as you wear it. Also, the heel counter is poorly shaped, so your heel slips upward on every stride. Inexpensive, but not a very good shoe, overall.

Excellent value and classic appearance - I bought these on-line from Zappos having had the benefit of looking at them (but not trying them on) at a retail outlet. The size was accurate, and I wore them to a formal engagement 24 hours after they arrived. They required no appreciable break-in period, and I am confident that they will wear well for a long time.

Comfortable, but do they breathe? These shoes have a classic look, and are a bit more contemporary than wingtips (which I also like). The fit seems true to size and they are comfortable. I haven’t taken long walks with them, so I do not know if they would be comfortable for that. I do find that my feet get sweaty in them, and so I have questions about how well the leather breathes. Still, for the price I may get another pair.

Good business shoe... Great shoe, when you can figure out the width system... EE or W? I got the 14W which fits me just fine... The heel is a good, hard, composite black material which does not leave black marks on tile or wood or linoleum floors. It is a great business shoe. I am a trial lawyer, and I like how it looks in court.

Wide is wide - Started with med width. They felt too tight. Great Zappos return and ordered wide. Wide was pretty wide and overall bigger. A big difference from medium. Got some "gelling" insoles and they fit and feel great. No break-in needed before a formal event. These are dressy and shinny enough to pass for tux shoes at a black tie event.

Where have you been? I found the experience (3 pairs) most satisfying. I will NEVER set foot in a shoe store again. Why would you. And, I have a real tough size--7.5 triple E. You have so many. Keep up the good work.
