Birkenstocks are great for feet! Once broken in, Birkenstocks are the most comfortable sandals I've ever had. They are shaped to fit your feet and designed to be good for your feet. The shape detracts a bit from the style, but I don't care. I'd rather walk in comfort. This is the second pair I've owned. I bought the first pair (in a different style) about eight years ago and have about worn the soles off of them. I have "problem" feet and purchased the Milanos after they were recommended to me by my podiatrist. Birkenstocks are expensive, but keep in mind that they are not throw-aways like many other brands. They can be refurbished at a reasonable cost. My first pair will go in to be re-soled and re-corked this winter.

Sturdy comfort, reliable quality from Birkenstock - These were for my son who has low muscle tone and needs a supportive sandal with a sculpted footbed. Previous versions of this back-strapped sandal were made of lighter weight nubuck, but these straps are sturdier nubuck that give better support, and will last more than one summer, we hope. The custom adjustable buckles allow him to wear these with socks or bare feet. The only minus is the leather dye bleeds off onto white socks for the first several days. They're no trendy fashion statement, but their practicality and quality override the aesthetic, which must be a point that all Birkenstock wearers will agree upon.

Basic sandal I can't live without - I lost my old pair, 2 years old, still in good shape and immediately had to order a new pair. They are comfortable, and are really the best sandals I have owned. After buying many other sandals each summer, I decided to spend a little more for something that will last a long time and be comfortable. A worthwhile investment. Only thing is that size 47 was marked as a 14, though it fits my size 13 feet well. I had a 47 before, which is generally a size 13, so knew it would fit.

Dad's B'day Gift - My dad asked for new Birks for his birthday (his other pair FINALLY got old after 10 yrs!. These were the exact match & he was so happy! Everyone knows Birkenstocks take a little time to break in, but they're great. These were such a fabulous price - Zappos saved my butt for an expensive B'day gift! European sizes confused me though - ended up sending back a size that said should fit men's 8-8.5, but fit my hubby who wears a size 12. So I ended up getting the size that was supposed to fit size 6 for men, and they fit my dad's size 8.5 feet. Anyway - he LOVES them!
