Nubuck Needs Care - I have these in Cacao Nubuck regular width and have been wearing them for about a month now. They did need 3-4 days to "break in" and then felt more comfortable as I walked in them. However, they are not good for standing in because standing for only about a half hour could cause discomfort in the heel area. Regular width in this style are too loose when socks are not worn, so I suggest that if you are buying regular but don't plan to wear socks with them for better air circulation/coolness, then get narrow instead. The buckle straps are pretty easy for on and off once you get used to them. I also suggest getting the smooth leather instead of nubuck like mine, because nubuck seems to need a lot of care and are also less durable. I bought this spray which claims to guard nubuck leather from rain, snow and even salt, but even after spraying 2 coats, I still find water being able to seep into the leather. Although I can't say that Nubuck accounts for this because it might be the quality of the spray itself. But it's true that Nubuck doesn't take even the lightest scratches very well perhaps because the texture is very fine and there is no protective layer like the smooth leather, causing any finger marks, shoe prints, dust, etc. to easily get onto the surface. But if you are careful with nubuck, stains like those could be taken off spotlessly with a wipe of a damp cloth at the end of the day. The only thing I like about nubuck however, is that the material is extremely fast-drying. You could even just stand there and watch them gradually dry which allows you to wear them again soon afterwards. I plan to test them out some more in the snow this coming winter.

Comfortable but not too beautiful - These are great all-around everyday shoes. I bought the smooth black leather version, and they are great because I wear them with slacks to work or with jeans in my leisure time. I have many Birkenstock shoes, and they are all incredibly comfortable. Love the footbed, and the adjustable buckle helps keep them on tighter as they get older and looser.

London runs wide! This is a cool looking Birk! Very urban and minimalist! This was much wider on me than my other styles in this brand.

I love my Birkenstock London’s! A former Birkenstock junkie, these are the only pair I can not think of parting with... they are perfect in every way! The worn leather only adds to their charm! Buy them!!! Wear them!!! Love them!!!

Keeping with quality - The Birkenstock London shoe keeps with the quality that Birkenstock has demonstrated since I can remember, from my first pair 30 years ago. The London has a great look with my jeans, and the comfort of a lightweight but substantial-enough shoe, instead of a Birkenstock sandal. Plus, this is a perfect pair for the fall!

Pain Reliever - I have had problems with my feet lately and the only shoes that helped were a pair of 3 year old Birkenstock sandals. The London's were recommended to me by a friend with a similar problem. They have been the perfect solution!!!

Birkenstock London - I owned a pair of Boston Clogs in suede and loved them. When they wore out I decided to go with the London. Big mistake! I have had this shoe for about a year now. Granted I don't wear them too often but the leather still doesn't 'look' broken in. In the beginning they were INCREDIBLY hot and sweaty! With socks they made my feet smell bad (this isn't usually a problem for me either)! If I didn't wear socks it was the same thing and my feet still got sweaty. In my opinion, it was my $ down the commode. Don't spend your money on these. I recommend the Boston's!

Love my London’s - I have been a Birkenstock fan for a lot of years and find them and Dansko the only shoes that do not have a break-in period. I love these shoes! They are really comfortable; I stand all day on my job. I am a size 6 and find that 37 narrow are the best fit for me. Total comfort! Zappos has given me the best customer service! They bend over backward to keep their customers happy!!!

When the shoes were brand new, they were still stiff. The back (near the heel) rubbed me and gave me a blister. Now that they're broken in though, they're fine.

Would wear no other for work - I wear the white for my job in the medical field. I will never by any other. I can take them out of the box and wear tem all day, no problems.

Too big - These shoes have molded insoles that make them limited to fit. They are about a full size bigger than normal European sizes.

Birkenstock London - Purchased the London Birkenstock for heel and arch support hoping that they would be as supportive as their sandals are. They are top quality, and are comfortable, but I do not find them as supportive as an Arizona, Boston, or Gizeh. As always, amazingly simple purchase and next day delivery from Zappos.

Great shoe - It starts off a little uncomfortable - like any solidly built leather shoe - but suddenly turns soft and comfortable after the tenth day. Since then, it's been perfect. A note on the Narrow vs. Regular. I have a pair in Regular width and Narrow width... the Narrow really is about the width of your average American shoe and the Regular is noticeably wide. I prefer the Regular, but it's not for everyone.

Brands I'd also recommend: Any of the Earth brand shoes... they can take a while to break in, but last forever and can be worn for days on end.

Great minimal looking shoe - I've worn Birkenstocks on and off for years. I'd been wearing a 44 until I went to have my Boston's resoled. The sales person told me I should really be wearing a 45. I took her advice, but always thought the clogs looked/felt too big. I'd wanted a pair of London's for quite some time, but found a 45 impossible to find anywhere until I checked Zappos, who had a 45 narrow. I decided to give it a shot and am happy I went with the narrow as opposed to the regular width. The sloppiness I felt in the 45 regular is gone and the shoe fits me very well and looks sharp with a variety of pants. If you're in between sizes, my advice is to go with the narrow.

The best shoes on the planet! This shoe is the most uncomfortable shoe for about a week or two. ONCE you have formed it to your feet, it's the most comfortable shoe you will ever have. I work in the medical field, I’m on my feet all day, these can pass for clogs style shoes underneath scrub bottoms, but have the back of the shoe required by OSHA. I HIGHLY recommend this shoe to those people who like COMFORT as well as a nice style. I HATE pointy shoes, or narrow square end shoes. These have a nice rounded toe that FIT and LOOK GOOD around a foot. Look no further. I've had these shoes for over a year now...I'll never buy another brand.

These are wonderful shoes! I have two pairs: one in nubuk and the other in smooth leather. Compared to the smooth leather, the nubuk takes less time to break into due to the soft nature of the leather . But I wear mine with thin cotton socks, and I don't get blisters! I find it easier to get stain/dirt on nubuk than it is on smooth leather but wipe them with a damp cloth as soon as you see something and they should be fine. I had to get these one size up but still in the same width, I think because there's only one strap and it's at the top so your feet might slide back and forth a little more than if they were secured with the traditional Birkenstock sandals straps where they are evenly spread out. They look great with practically everything and are light and comfortable. These are my favorite shoes and I can go on forever about them! Get a pair and see for yourself!

Brands I'd also recommend: All Birkenstock and Birki's are good! NOT Footprints, they are always too narrow even when they say REGULAR!
