This style took longer to break in than my other Birkenstocks (Boston and Arizona), but it has been worth the effort. I\'m not sure if it\'s a difference in the footbed or if I walk differently in a closed clog. In any case, they are working out very nicely with my work clothes.\r\n\r\n

These shoes came in 2 days. Were wonderful, I put them on, and have been wearing them ever since. Super service; I cannot say enough good things about the whole deal: shoes, Birkenstocks, and Zappos.

I have worn Birkenstocks for years, but only in the warmer weather. However, I have recently developed some foot problems and my podiatrist told me that Birks are the perfect shoe to help maximize foot comfort because the foot bed is anatomically shaped to relieve pressure on the nerves that go to the toes. So, I decided to buy a pair of Birks that I could wear most of the winter. When I took these shoes out of the box I thought they were very stiff and would be difficult to get used to. However, as soon as I started wearing them around the house I figured out that they are really very comfortable. I have worn them to work where I am on my feet most of the day and come home without aching feet. They look good enough to wear with dress slacks in my office setting. I love them!

I love the London shoes. Love Zappos service. These shoes are the best shoes that I have ever worn. The perfect shoe. Until I bought the London shoes I had suffered with 16 months of heel, ankle, and lower leg pain and swelling. I had seen numerous medical expects and followed their advice to the letter of the law. However, my pain got worse. I was at the place of having trouble standing at work or even walking my dog. Based on customer reviews at Zappos, I tried a pair of London Birkenstock. My pain started to decrease the first time I wore the shoes. Since then, the pain and swelling has been eliminated. I have bought two more pairs of Londons and I would highly recommend them to anyone, especially people with feet and ankle problems.

This should is basically a hybrid between the eyesore styling of Crocs and the durable industrialism of Dr. Martens. I own one pair in brown and one pair in black, and I generally wear them in the office with dress slacks, dress shirt, argyle socks, and a tie. While they\'re extremely comfortable, as are all Birkenstock shoes, they are hideous to look at, and I\'m surprised so many have said otherwise here. They look almost identical to Crocs, the bane of stylish footwear. In fact, on the first day I wore my Birkenstock Londons, I had two separate people comment to me that they didn\'t realize Crocs made leather shoes, and they were serious.\r\n\r\nMy suggestion: If you want Birkenstock comfort with at least a modicum of style, go for the Birkenstock Alabama. It is a true closed shoe with Birkenstock soles. The London is a sort of clog/sandal hybrid.

Birkenstock® USA, began over 30 years ago when the founder, Margot Fraser, had a dream of sharing the comfort and health benefits of Birkenstock shoes. A few years earlier, while visiting a German resort, she had tried on her first pair and was extremely impressed at how good they felt. From there, Margot learned that the original Birkenstock contoured footbed was invented and manufactured in Germany by Konrad Birkenstock in 1897. In fact, the Birkenstock family has been shoemakers for over 225 years – more than two centuries of creating and perfecting a tradition of walking comfort.

Birki’s® was founded in the early 90's by Stephan Birkenstock The goal was to create stylish sandals that were not only good for you but also something to show off. All Birki's shoes and sandals are made in Germany using environmentally-friendly process and proven craftsmanship.

Most Birkenstock and Birki's footbeds are crafted from a cork-latex mixture. The cork used is 100% renewable and sustainable harvested from the Oak tree. The harvesting of the cork does not harm the Oak Tree and allows for new bark to grow back beginning the life cycle all over again. Each contoured footbed will molds and shapes to your foot with the heat of your body creating a custom footbed that supports and cradles each and every step. For the customer that wants a cushioned footbed, they can now enjoy the soft footbed that is offered by Birkenstock shoes and Birki's shoes. Available in a variety of styles, the time-tested cork construction has been enhanced with a layer of memory foam.

Start your child off on the right foot with Birkenstock Kids shoes and Birki’s Kids shoes. Children need footwear that is good for their growing feet. The contoured footbed supplied by Birkenstock Kids shoes and Birki's Kids shoes mirrors the natural shape of the foot, offering excellent support. Birkenstocks Kids shoes and Birki’s Kids shoes are created according to the daily needs of children. Many styles available in the Birkenstock Kids and Birki's Kids line can be purchased in the adult version.

A large portion of Birkenstock shoes and Birki's shoes are completely repairable and renewable, reducing the potential for tons of waste to be dumped in land fills each year. From old favorites in fresh colors to new styles and materials, you can easily reuse and refresh your Birkenstock shoes and Birki's shoes for year to come.

STINKY. They don't breathe well thus causing stinky feet with or without socks...but as always for a Birk, they are very comfortable.

Love this shoe! I have foot problems and this is the shoe for me! It is very roomy in the toe area, and is a solid shoe that offers protection and support. It was comfortable initially, but has gotten increasingly comfortable with wear. VERY comfortable. It was so roomy, that I thought it was a "big" shoe. But I compared it to my tennis shoes, and it is only slightly bigger. Even though it's roomy, it stays solid on my feet, and I haven't had even a hint of a blister. It's not the cutest shoe -- looks a little "Ducky", but the comfort makes it worth it anyway. It also seems pretty scuff-resistant. Now that I am so impressed with the London, I think I will buy the Alabama too. And Zappos is as great as it's always been!

Shoes for pregnancy - My husband is a chef and has these and thought they were real comfortable. I was looking for a shoe to wear @ work while pregnant that would make my feet feel better. Well...while walking they are great! However, when standing my heels were still hurting. There is plenty of room for swelling which helps @ the end of the day. As far as the appearance, a little manly :)

Perfect shoe for any service industry professional - This is my fourth or fifth pair of Birkenstock Londons and I wouldn't wear anything else to work. I am a bartender with high arches who spends 12-16 hours per day on my diabetic feet, so I don't mess around with shoes. The insole on these is so comfortable and perfect for high arches. They also do a great job of protecting my feet from liquids, glass, greasy floors, etc., because the foot is fully covered and they have the great anti-slip soles. The toe grips inside take some getting used to if you've never worn Birks, but they make for a very natural step that is great for your back and results in very toned calves. One caveat is that Birkenstock does not offer half sizes, so be sure to order the next bigger size if you usually need a half size. These shoes are well worth the price if you spend a lot of time standing, plus a pair lasts me about a year and I put them through quite a beating.

Great investment - This shoe pretty much saved my life. I have very wide feet, and it was extremely difficult to find a shoe that actually fit me. I wish they came in half sizes, but with an insole, the 8 fits fine. Thanks Zappos and Birkenstock!

Fabulous shoe - I LOVE this shoe. It is my "go to" shoe almost every day. It is cute and comfortable. I only wish Birkenstock made more shoes, rather than mules or clogs.

2nd grade revisited - These shoes are very good looking and I am still in the "break-in" stage with them. My only complaint is that my socks keep falling down. I have worn several styles of socks, at first thinking it was something about the socks but it seems it is more about the shoes. I have other Birkenstocks with open backs and this does not happen. I'll keep wearing them and maybe with a little time the problem will go away. I love the look of the shoes and get lots of compliments on them.

Luv the London - but - The quality & fit of the shoe is perfect. No break in time needed. As always I love the look of all Birkenstock shoes. They have their own stylish appearance. But this particular shoe has a different sole, not the standard outer sole that Birkenstocks have so I don't like the feel when walking but my feet DO NOT hurt. I would not buy another pair with this type of sole. It changes that comfy feel that I've been use to all these years.

Awesome for pregnancy! I'm 7 months into my first pregnancy, and these are the only shoes I can wear that don't result in my feet and ankles swelling at the end of the day. They're a perfect width, and the arch support is wonderful - I'm still fairly comfortable on my feet at the end of a very long teaching day. They look great with my dress clothes, too. My only minor complaint is that I have a black leather pair and a brown nubuck pair, both size 37 normal width, and the brown pair feels much bigger than the black pair. I compensate by wearing thicker socks with the brown pair, but it was odd - usually European sizings fit me exactly the same all across the board.

Zappos Rules! I ordered my shoes Thanksgiving night. They were on my porch the very next afternoon! Talk about fast. Even more wonderful was how cute theses shoes are! I had Milanos about 15 years ago, but these are my first Birkenstock closed shoes, and they did not disappoint. Love them. I highly recommend them to anyone with wide feet or painful bunions, as I have. But my highest praise is reserved for Zappos. Polite, friendly, efficient. I couldn't be happier. I tell everyone to go Zappos!

Birkenstock London, good in Boston too! Great shoe, especially for those with a wide forefoot. The heel collapses as well for an ad hoc sandal for slip on off ease. It does not have immense heel cushioning. Great all around shoe that can pass unnoticed in the corporate elevator at work. A little more padding and it would be a great city walking shoe as well, but without the padding, the heal blows out pretty quickly from pounding the pavement. But on the other hand its light, agile, and handles a puddle well, so quite adept at urban terrain. The name London suits it well.
Other Brands Recommended by Reviewer: They have another version with more cushioning, but it does not look as professional.

Great for Plantar Fasciitis - I've suffered from plantar fasciitis for several years. Birkenstocks are now my favorite shoes - I can't believe I didn't try them sooner. I travel and walk a lot and these are now the only shoes I take. I bought the London because I loved my sandals, but needed something to wear in the wet and cold English winter. I usually wear a US 8, my Birk sandals are 39 N and perfect. London I ordered in 39 N and I think I would prefer the next size up. However, I'm usually between sizes in shoes.

I LOVE this shoe... but like so many others, I had problems with the fit in the toe box. I tried a half size larger, but that was too big in the heel. I kept my usual size and wore them anyway. The first few times were a little rough, but now, they are great. I never had problems with the cut-outs rubbing and am so happy I kept them instead of sending them back.
