Shoes are great. Feel like I can kick a door down with these things. I bartend and I wanted shoes that I could stand in for a while. These happen to work; not to mention my feet feel safe with the composite toe. I also like the ankle support.

I bought these for part-time work as an ambulance EMT. Super light and comfortable. Compared to my normal fire dept station boots these are light as a feather and don't cause fatigue like a clunky steel-toe boot. Easy to get in and out of. Great style. Good tread. Good flexibility. Unfortunately, a little smaller than I anticipated. I wear a 9-9.5D in dress shoes and 10-10.5 in athletic shoes. I ordered a size 9.5 medium and it's too tight in the toe. Also, I never considered my feet wide but it turned out that a 10W worked out a lot better. My advice: order your athletic shoe size or go to a local store to try them on first before ordering.

I've owned a number of Bates boots over the years, however I ordered a new pair this spring and have since returned them twice. The first time the zipper broke after a month of wear, the second time the sole on one boot began to separate after two months.

Good: Surprisingly waterproof. Medium: Didn't feel really secure/tight on my foot, like there's a lot of extra room inside. Bad: After about 10 months of daily wear, one of the side zippers broke, and some of the velcro has started to come unstitched.

I've had this boot for nearly a year and love them. Company gets us boots once a year and Bates will be my choice again. They are very comfortable, which I need since I work 12 hour shifts.

Another great buy from Zappos! An excellent boot whether you're in law enforcement or not. Surprisingly light for a steel toe boot, great ankle support, extremely comfortable, easy on/off with the side zipper. Great tread on bottom too. Highly recommended!

This wasn't my first purchase from Zappos but I'm always amazed just how fast your shipping is. I ordered these on Wed. morning and got them on Thursday afternoon. I call that one heck of a good free delivery service. You guys are great. As for the boots? I've had Bates boots in the past so I already knew what to expect from them. These things are perfect for my job (bar-tending) since i have to stand for many 10-12 hour shifts, sometimes doing some light speed walking. The 8' support helps and I love having side zippers because having to loosen and tighten the laces each time i take them off or put them on would get old quickly. The fit and support seem overall perfect for my needs. Once again, great job and thank you Zappos for having so many outstanding brands of footwear and definitely the best free delivery service I've ever seen. You will absolutely be getting future business from me, a very satisfied customer.
