Well, I am a security guard and the place I work is very dirty and has some rough terrain like sand pits and scrap metal laying around; never know what your feet will come in contact with. I was wearing regular sneakers, and they got destroyed. These boots have helped me out a lot. They take a beating and then some while still lasting and providing support. I recommend them for anyone who needs ankle support and/or a pair of boots that will last a good long time. The oil resistant sole is a lifesaver.

I have wide feet (3-4E) and always seem to have a hard time finding good comfortable shoe & limited to the style I can buy. Bates shoes seems to be a brand that a lot of firemen & police buy so I figure they should know quality shoes. I got them the next day (awesome shipping from Zappos). Usually there is a breaking period with new shoes. These were instantly comfortable. I love the side zipper. Easy on & off.

Just bought my 2nd pair after 2 years on the first pair. Quick on and off. Light weight and the plastic toe gets be through metal detectors without the delay.

Told our son, a Chicago police officer, that Zappos carried Bates' products. We gave him a pair of Bates Winter boots for his birthday this past January. We bought them directory from Bates. He loved them and they kept is feet dry and warm through the winter. So he decided to try a summer wear pair and so far, so good.

Bought for my son for wearing on his full time security job. Wear well. Comfortable to walk in. They get lots of wear time! An excellent quality shoe/boot! After purchasing a pair over a year ago, I knew I couldn't go wrong 'gifting' him another pair for his birthday!
