Oh boy, was I looking forward to trying on these shoes! Imagine my disappointment when I couldn't wait to remove them! I absolutely love all of the designs from the Bass Hearts Rachel Antonoff collection. They are the cutest, most whimsical designs to debut on a 'comfort' shoe ever. Sadly, these were far from comfortable. From the photos, I expected a cute rounded toe with lots of room, but the reality is the toe box was extremely long and squished my toes the same way pointy shoes do. Where the seams between the patent leather and the PVC meet, the insides were poorly finished and I could tell those points would result in blisters. The ankles are cut very low and rubbed on a sensitive spot and the heels are very loose in comparison to the tight toe box. I wear a larger size and many shoe makers don't take the size changes into consideration when scaling the proportions of a shoe design. The toe was very long and the laces were very short. If you wear a small shoe size, these are probably just as adorable as in the photos, but anyone over a size 9, beware.

When I wear these shoes, I get compliments on them from strangers everywhere I go. A 90+-year-old woman in the salon even told me she loved them. The color is really eye catching. I don't try to match the turquoise blue, but instead pair them with a sporty teal sweater or a menswear-style shirt and jeans. Because of the clear panels, you can make the shoes match whatever you're wearing. With pink socks, for example, you'd get a more springtime, Easter-egg look, whereas navy or denim-colored socks tone them down a bit. The shoes have a snazzy red tongue that's hard to see in the picture. Click on the top view to get a good look at it. The shoes were tight and uncomfortable the first time I wore them, but they stretched out after just one wearing, and now I could wear them comfortably all day.

Bass in general makes amazing shoes, and the Bass + Rachel Antonoff collection continues to impress. I'm a true 9.5 in Bass's loafers and flats, but with oxfords and brogues I've found myself going up to a 10. I wasn't sure with these so I took a 10, which turns out to be slightly big. The way it feels though a 9.5 would've been snug, so I'm sticking with what I've got. The sole is amazingly soft yet sturdy; I have a feeling I'll have these for a while which is excellent. Love the look, I can wear it with funky socks or bare. It's well worth the (sale) price, so I say go for it.

What a cute shoe. And it looks different depending upon the socks you wear. However, there are some issues. First, where the patent leather meets the clear plastic seems like a weak seam. Second, the plastic isn't stiff enough and the patent leather cuts into my foot when I walk. OUCH! Third, the plastic looked like it was a little scratched. Fourth, the tongue rolled at the end and cut into my foot OUCH AGAIN! Not sure if these shoes will last very long but I could be wrong because Bass is an excellent shoe company.
