When polar explorers trek to the North or the South Pole they subject their footwear to the most demanding conditions imaginable. Day after day they exert themselves to the point of exhaustion, pulling their equipment over the rough and unrelenting terrain. They lose as much as one pound of body weight each day in perspiration and burned calories. At night they sleep in small tents where the temperature can drop as low as -60°C (-76°F), freezing their boots. Cold feet and blisters, that might not be given a second thought in other situations, can be fatal in this environment.
While traditional molded boots are suitable for some conditions, they are not ideal for cold temperatures. In the early 90s Baffin realized that if they combined their leading molding technology with a foam-based inner boot system, they could create a new hybrid style of high performance footwear. Since then Baffin has developed new materials and combined them in new, innovative combinations. A good example is the unrivaled 8-layer combination of materials that are used in the boots that are rated for -100ºC (-148ºF).
Over the years, Baffin has created a line of industry-leading footwear that performs in extreme conditions for an ever-growing list of loyal users and activities, including snowmobiling, ice-fishing, hunting, mushing and working in industries like construction, oil, mining, forestry, and outdoor winter recreation. Because of this, Baffin has become the leader in footwear for all your cold weather needs.

I have had these boots now a month and I can tell you they are warm! I work with horses, cleaning stalls and teaching lessons. I also live in New England where it can be frigid and damp. I typically am out working most of the day usually with out a chance to go inside. My feet have not gotten cold once! You do need to take out the liners occasionally to dry out.
I'd also recommend: uggs

I did not think that I would ever get my feet in theses boots when I first took them out of the box but it is amazing how they open up! They are super warm yet not really heavy boots! These boots are perfect for our Canadian winters! Zappos rocks!

Bought these boots for a business trip to Russia. These are outstanding boots. Just returned from the trip - and my feet were never cold, even though it was -27 to -30 the whole trip. Very comfortable to walk in; easy to slip on and off (after entering buildings, could remove easily to put on regular fashion boots for work). Size was exactly my normal fit (no extra room for thick socks - but I was astonished to find I didn't want thick socks on anyway. Normal tights or socks were all that I needed). Perhaps not the most stylish, but when it was that far below zero, fashion was not at the top of the list. Looked hard for a boot that would work in extreme cold - yet be easy to manage for changing (some cold weather boots are great looking - but take forever to unlace/lace back up). These boots were exactly what I needed. Recommend these highly.

I have been searching for a boot this warm for a while. My feet are always cold, so being in very low temperatures for an extended period of time can be very uncomfortable. I specifically bought these with the intention of using them for ice fishing. Yesterday, I wore these boots on the ice for about 4 hours! Usually, my toes go numb after about 20 minutes while wearing my North Face Chilkats. These Baffin boots kept my toes warm the whole time! They truly are a polar rated boot. There are a couple downsides to these boots, however. First, they are bulky which makes it difficult to walk far distances in deep snow. Second, they do not provide enough heel/ankle support, so I get a lot of slip with each step. Hiking up or down rocky terrain is difficult.

I found these boots very stiff and uncomfortable to walk in and so returned them. I found that the stiffness caused my heel to rise and fall within the boot, and I was concerned about possible blisters and foot fatigue if wearing for long periods of time. I did need to go up a size to get the length to fit comfortably. They do have an inner warm lining and appear to be solidly constructed. Excellent if you are traveling to Siberia, but they might be overkill for most locals in winter.
