This is the second pair of Baffin boots that I have bought. The other pair are taller with the "gator" tops that cinch up, I use them for deeper snow. I wanted a pair for walking in less snow and ice. Like the other Baffin's they are very light and exceptionally warm. Although a little bulky at first they soon conform to the foot. I would recommend any of the Baffin line of boots for winter wear.

These boots are truly great. I love the pull out insert for quick drying. These boots are very light & comfortable. If you're not used to this style of boot or soles of this thickness, it may take a day or 2 to get used to, but worth it. Super warm & gel inserts fit in easily & don't slide around due to the rubberized interior foot bed.

These are really great boots. I've had them for about a year now and just brought them out for the first time this winter and I was remembering how great they are. I took them camping last winter and my feet stayed so warm the entire time. Very cozy. We went snowshoeing and there were some points where we were getting into some muck, but the boots stayed completely dry all the way through. It would take a lot to get your feet wet, they are very water tight. The padding inside is extremely comfortable. I've never felt a boot or shoe be so soft inside. It's like walking on pillows, really. They can feel a little tight at normal size, but I wouldn't jump up a size. I think that it's just there is so much padding it can seem tight. The only thing that I've noticed I don't like as much is that they are pretty stiff on the back side, kind of like a ski boot or hockey skate (definitely not that stiff, though). There is just a lot of support I guess, it's not awkward at all though. Might not be the best boot to drive in. They work great in really deep snow, or just to keep your feet warm. I highly recommend them for anyone who lives up north and needs some good snow boots.
About Baffin
When polar explorers trek to the North or the South Pole they subject their footwear to the most demanding conditions imaginable. Day after day they exert themselves to the point of exhaustion, pulling their equipment over the rough and unrelenting terrain. They lose as much as one pound of bodyweight each day in perspiration and burned calories. At night they sleep in small tents where the temperature can drop as low as -60°C (-76°F), freezing their boots. Cold feet and blisters, that might not be given a second thought in other situations, can be fatal in this environment.
While traditional molded boots are suitable for some conditions they are not ideal for cold temperatures. In the early 90s Baffin realized that if they combined their leading molding technology with a foam-based inner boot system, they could create a new hybrid style of high performance footwear. Since then Baffin has developed new materials and combined them in new innovative combinations. A good example is the unrivalled 8-layer combination of materials that are used in the boots that are rated for -100ºC (-148ºF).
Over the years Baffin has created a line of industry-leading footwear that performs in extreme conditions for an ever-growing list of loyal users and activities, including snowmobiling, ice-fishing, hunting, mushing and working in industries like construction, oil, mining, forestry, and outdoor winter recreation. Because of this, Baffin has become the leader in footwear for all your cold weather needs.
