When polar explorers trek to the North or the South Pole they subject their footwear to the most demanding conditions imaginable. Day after day they exert themselves to the point of exhaustion, pulling their equipment over the rough and unrelenting terrain. They lose as much as one pound of body weight each day in perspiration and burned calories. At night they sleep in small tents where the temperature can drop as low as -60°C (-76°F), freezing their boots. Cold feet and blisters, that might not be given a second thought in other situations, can be fatal in this environment.
While traditional molded boots are suitable for some conditions, they are not ideal for cold temperatures. In the early 90s Baffin realized that if they combined their leading molding technology with a foam-based inner boot system, they could create a new hybrid style of high performance footwear. Since then Baffin has developed new materials and combined them in new, innovative combinations. A good example is the unrivaled 8-layer combination of materials that are used in the boots that are rated for -100ºC (-148ºF).
Over the years, Baffin has created a line of industry-leading footwear that performs in extreme conditions for an ever-growing list of loyal users and activities, including snowmobiling, ice-fishing, hunting, mushing and working in industries like construction, oil, mining, forestry, and outdoor winter recreation. Because of this, Baffin has become the leader in footwear for all your cold weather needs.

Excellent value. Sturdy construction. Comfortable when I take the dogs out in wet weather...and the price was one-half the price charged by L. L. Beans for a similar shoe...and L. L. Beans was "out of stock" as usual. Zappos delivered like right now...just in time for Christmas. Zappos is highly recommended by me.

Excellent product for the money! Everything I was looking for! Far superior to LL Bean, Timberland, Rockport and especially Merrell.

These boots are great for wearing around town in snowy, wet weather without the bulk of a full snow boot. My feet do get tired after wearing them all day, though. The size seems to run large to accommodate heavy socks, which I recommend since these boots don't provide much insulation.

I bought these shoes for my husband for Christmas. We had purchased form another store and when they did not fit they wanted to charge shipping for both to and from. Zappos was wonderful to work with and the shoes were a prefect fit! It made it a bit easier to buy from Zappos not knowing if the size would work. They are true to fit and my husband wears them all the time. great for wet outdoors.

I bought these for bumping around the yard on wet days. The length of the shoes is right, and the width of the toe box is okay, but the fit in the instep and heel is "sloppy," making them very hard to walk in. I tried them with two pair of socks, and that helped some. But my heel kept slipping up and down across a raised seam in the heel of the shoe. The actual heel is surprisingly small, making it unstable on muddy ground. I walked across a muddy field and almost lost a shoe several times. They are also quite heavy. If you are looking for a shoe to sit in a duck blind, they might work for you. They are sturdy, waterproof and tightly sewn. But if you want to walk more than 100 yards on uneven ground, I don't recommend them.
