When polar explorers trek to the North or the South Pole they subject their footwear to the most demanding conditions imaginable. Day after day they exert themselves to the point of exhaustion, pulling their equipment over the rough and unrelenting terrain. They lose as much as one pound of body weight each day in perspiration and burned calories. At night they sleep in small tents where the temperature can drop as low as -60°C (-76°F), freezing their boots. Cold feet and blisters, that might not be given a second thought in other situations, can be fatal in this environment.
While traditional molded boots are suitable for some conditions, they are not ideal for cold temperatures. In the early 90s Baffin realized that if they combined their leading molding technology with a foam-based inner boot system, they could create a new hybrid style of high performance footwear. Since then Baffin has developed new materials and combined them in new, innovative combinations. A good example is the unrivaled 8-layer combination of materials that are used in the boots that are rated for -100ºC (-148ºF).
Over the years, Baffin has created a line of industry-leading footwear that performs in extreme conditions for an ever-growing list of loyal users and activities, including snowmobiling, ice-fishing, hunting, mushing and working in industries like construction, oil, mining, forestry, and outdoor winter recreation. Because of this, Baffin has become the leader in footwear for all your cold weather needs.

These boots are horribly made. They are coming apart at the seams and are clearly glued together between the boot and the sole. I didn't know anything about this brand but had assumed that a Canadian company would make solid winter boots. These are getting returned right away. Don't waste your time with this brand!

Just purchased these boots. I'm very impressed with the overall style and fit. I previously had the Baffin Crossfires which are the same exact style and fit as the Baffin Canadian just a different material. The plus to the Baffin Canadian is definitely the lace system on the boot. On the Baffin Crossfires, the laces never stayed tied. I wore these boots when it was 20 degrees and snowing. My feet stayed warm and dry. They also have a bootie sock type liner which keeps your feet warm. Looking at a previous review of a guy saying they didn't hold up in -10 degrees. Well in the Baffin booklet that comes with the boots, it states that if you have cold feet go for a more warmer boot. Also there's a break in period for these boots! They're supposed to feel tight at first. They will stretch and give. They fit true to size. Wore for a 2 mile walk and had no problem with comfort. Keep in mind, these are bulky snow boots made for winter activities and weigh more than a pair of sneakers. These by far are the best snow boots I've ever owned! Baffin makes an awesome snow boot. The best in my opinion. Haven't noticed any quality issues yet on the boot. Highly recommend! Also a really good deal on them. Zappos is the best! Wouldn't buy from anyone else!

I purchased these boots to replace an old pair of Sorel Caribous. I really like the lacing system. I am also a fan of how light these boots are. I am very satisified with my purchase, these are excellent boots.

I've purchased these boots about two weeks ago. Had the opportunity to test them in -10C and they are not performing well enough. You can feel the moisture starting to accumulate in your foot sole area. Why? Because, unlike other Baffin shoes, reaction series doesn't have a "waffle" footbed or any other insole, and as a result moisture has nowhere to go. And you get wetter and wetter. As I already said, they don't have any insulating insoles, and as a result of that your foot sole starts to feel cold. The inner boot system lies right on the rubber, which is a big surprise for me. It is also uncomfortable to walk. If you want a good Baffin boot, buy something from their Polar series. Those boots have a waffle footbed and a good thick insole. Don't buy Epic series, they have waffle footbed, but no insole. It's a shame to Baffin that they made Reaction series so poor. It would be so easy to put these two simple components that changes everything. Thinking about -40C? Forget about it with Baffin Reaction series.
I'd also recommend: Baffin Polar series, or Cabelas Trans Alaskan or Cabelas Predator Extreme
