This is a great shoe. I use it for walking around NYC on wet days. My feet stay nice and dry and pretty warm. The shoelaces are the flaw in that you have to manhandle the little plastic piece to tighten or loosen. And the, the lace just sticks out. My cat likes that aspect though.

Very nice shoe. This shoe feels a little stiffer than others in the foot bridge area (not a bad thing just noticeable). I really like the quick pull/lace system but it is a tad long on right shoe and will touch the floor (doesn't go underneath shoe or make me trip but makes the feeling of an untied shoe lace on that foot). The mesh seems to allow your foot to stay cooler than most other similar branded shoes. I still like Merrell soles the best but these are pretty close.

I loved my speedcross 3's. So when the fours came out, I went with the Pro version. It's much lighter than the standard speedcross, but there is heel slippage. I would normally use runners loop, but the laces are locked. They are awesome on wet or soft mud, but the heel needs to be a few millimeters higher. Also, the insoles are terrible. Salomon has been known for terrible insoles, but now they are unusable. Throw them away. Use custom insoles.

Fit perfectly EXCEPT for the arch area - idk what Solomon did, but the arch area for me is way too over-formed. Very disappointing as Solomon had become my favorite active shoe. I put these on, stood up, instant pressure point on outer most side of arch.... hard to describe... but knew right away the form was not right. i removed the removable insole, no help. I have very high arches and all these decades later of extensive walking and hiking have never needed, or suffered from lack of, special arch support. i purchased solomon hiking boots at the same time as these (x ultra mid 2 gtx) - same problem. Favorite brand - lost. Darn! I hope they reconfigure the arch area.

Bought these for my 9 year old daughter for skiing. Great gloves, fit well except elastic wrist is surprisingly tight so you may want to go a size up. (She takes a medium and hand fit perfectly, but wrist elastic was much too tight.)

Lightweight and super warm boots. Not for the fashion conscious but very practical when it snows and there's ice everywhere. It has very good arch support. The boot is a bit stiff so it will require some breaking in, which is why I'm giving it 4 stars not 5. Overall Salomon is a great brand and this is a good boot.

I absolutely LOVE the Salomon X - Mission 3. This shoe provides great stability and a very comfortable, open toe-box. This is the third pair I have ordered and I hope this brand/style lasts longer than I do. I'm sold on it!!

I previously owned the Speedcross 3's and wore them out trail running and doing obstacle races. I absolutely loved the support and fit of the shoe, so I was hoping not much changed with the upgrade. I have never been crazy about some of the color combinations, but I settled on the bright blue ones. I'm happy to say they are the same great shoes as the 3's. They provide excellent cushion for longer runs and races, but you can still feel the ground. I tried the Reebok Spartan shoes, and I got a ton of blisters and a stress fracture from the lack of support. I have had a lot less foot pain since I have used the 3's and 4's and no stress fractures or blisters. The 4's laces stay put, and your heel stays locked in when the are laced properly. I ran the Spartan Killington beast in them, and I was concerned about how they would drain. I didn't notice them being overly heavy when wet and while other racers lost their shoes during a muddy section running through the woods my shoes didn't budge. I highly recommend the 4's!

I usually wear an 8 in running shoes, so I ordered an 8. It was actually too big. This shoe is really roomy in the toes as compared to the old version. Not a lot of cushion.

Great support and stability for trail running. I sprained my ankle pretty bad late last year and wanted a trail running shoe with more stability and the XA Pro 3D thus far has met my expectations. My foot feels more protected in this shoe more so than others, the only slight thing to note is that they do feel a bit heavier than other Salomon shoes. My custom orthotics fit in them and I like the pull tab at the back. The cross lace at the front seems to lock your foot in even better. These are definitely ones to try if you are looking for more stability on technical trails.

I need a waterproof shoe for a trip to Iceland and these had good reviews. However, they run large and are very stiff. I am going to try Merrells.

A very well made shoe: you can see the difference in craftsmanship as compared to similarly priced shoes (eg. Nike, etc). Aesthetically pleasing; light weight; comfortable and durable. Price withstanding, Salomon always seems like a more commensurate expenditure of money for footwear (a slip-on sneaker is a + as well). I highly recommend Salomon.

I work 12 hour shifts and always on my feet. These shoes are the best my feet never hurt and they last a long time so worth the money.

True to size. I found I needed a size 7 in another running shoe, up from a 6.5, but when I ordered 7 in this one it was too big. There is plent of room in the toe box, so ordered 6.5 in this particular show and it's perfect.

I am looking for a waterproof shoe for walking and touring. The shoes are comfortable but the soles look like cleats and are stiff. I think these shoes are a trail running shoe and would be perfect for that.

I ordered two pairs of the Salomon XA Pro. My son and grandson are hiking the John Muir Trial in June and they wanted a pair of good hiking shoes to break-in before leaving. They arrived a week ago from Zappos. My son who is a big Salomon wearer loved them. I ordered one half size larger after reading reviews and they fit him perfectly. He questioned the comfort level. A day after wearing said "they are GREAT, PERFECT". After wearing for a week said they really don't need to be broken-in. Loved the breathable mess, great soles, and the non-slip tongue, most important the comfort. For my grandson, I sent back the regular and ordered the wide. Wide was very comfortable and that is all he would say. He kept them but he just turned 13!

Per other reviews I ordered a half size larger. Even with the larger size, my husband said they were snug in the toe box. He said the support was excellent and they were stable, just too snug. We went with the waterproof version of this shoe, which he said had a different fit and felt better.
