I work for the federal government and am on my feet for hours at a time. We used to have to wear black shoes only but recently that was changed and we also can use all black sneakers. I had tried another brand with dismal results. Avia is a brand I have come to depend on and trust. This shoe definitely has not disappointed me. It has in fact exceeded my expectations for comfort, traction, durability, etc. I did not need to use any inserts. Those FOM cushioning pads that avia has strategically placed in key areas of the midsole do the job. My feet feel so much better now. If you are a service worker do yourself a favor and pick these up.

Pros: non-slip soles work well on slick floors; the shoe is comfortable; & they're inexpensive. Cons: materials are low-grade; heel traction of right shoe peeled away after four days of normal, indoor use.
