It took me a while to decide on this hiking boot. Not because I didn't think it was a good boot, but because I have always hiked with the leather. Lately, as I get older, my feet seem to cry out for more help when I hike! My toes cramp easily and my feet tire more quickly. I wanted to try something other than leather this time around, but wanted to stick with a high quality boot. I had been using the Asolo Leather hiking boots and really liked them, so figured I'd give the Asolo Moran GTX a try after reading many reviews. I am thrilled that I did. My wife and I hike frequently in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. For those of you who hike NH, you know the diverse conditions you encounter. Warmth, cold, snow, ice, leaves, water, stream hopping and of course, our lovely boulders! I have worn the Asolos on several 15 mile plus hikes at this point and they are very comfortable and they stay dry. No blisters. I did go a half size larger than my old boots, which I would suggest to anyone who hikes in Asolo boots. I always wear a Smart Wool pair of sock with the boots. I have not encountered the "cheap" laces as of yet that others keep mentioning in the reviews, but I have only been on several hikes since purchasing the boots. That still may come. But I figure if I can comfortably hike, shoe laces can be replaced at little cost. So I guess I would have to say, if you are looking for a comfortable hiking boot that seems to hold up to its name and reviews, don't be afraid to purchase these boots. They are truly a decent boot for hiking.

This is quite a bit for a pair of light hikers. But the Moran GTX are well worth it. I have a pair of 200 Mil. PrimaLoft hikers that are comparable to keeping the feet warm, but they aren't as comfy yet stiff as the Morans. If you have a high and feet that sweat easily these are the boots for you. Also get a pair that are a 1/2 size larger than your normal size. Also crampons, snowshoes, and gators all just seem to fit these boots like butter! Overall I would give these boots an 8.5. Only because I wouldn't want to use them in weather under 15 degrees F. And I'm kind of partial to Vibram soles. But all the same, well worth the paper dollars.

I love these boots! I finally wore out my Asolo FSN 95 boots after 10 years and was going to replace them with another pair (they are still available on Zappos.com). I saw the Morans and decided to give them a try since they are 10 - 12 years newer of a design. It is a credit to Asolo that the old design was so good, but the Moran is better for comfort, stability, and support. My feet are flat and the included footbed works really well for that. A high arch would likely need a new footbed. I was a bit skeptical of the no break-in needed reviews (sorry!) but those people are correct - this is the best boot out of the box ever, despite it feeling very stiff to start with. I needed a half size larger Moran than I did in the FSN 95. The Moran is also a half size larger than my runners. Order up a half size.

The footwear is designed around the foot; flexible, lightweight, and at the same time, highly resistant. Fit and performance are major strengths for this design. The breathable footwear is able to shock-absorb even on the toughest terrains, while keeping away humidity, water, and cold weather. The highly researched soles are constructed in such a way that they will prevent slips and falls on the most slippery of terrains.
Since the beginning, Asolo is connected with experiences and people who live for the mountain. Together with the brand, they test boots that have been developed for the alpine/mountaineering athletes and for all people who "live" the mountain with love and passion.
