Great boots, and really quick shipping. This is my second pair of these hiking boots. The last pair lasted through five years of regular hiking. Very supportive, light, comfortable, and have really good traction compared to other hiking boots I\'ve had. One of the only hiking boots I\'ve found that come in size 14 extra wide.\r\n\r\n

I asked a bit much of them I think - They fit great in the store. Then they fit slightly less great while heading up hill. They've been up a number of mountains, have frozen, thawed, slugged through scree and talus, and climbed rock. Traction has been adequate for me, but the durability has been less than awesome. Deep scree and talus have pretty well destroyed the seams on the side causing the sides of the boot to start peeling away. They also seem to be lacking in the padding department and my right boot, no matter what, likes to try and eat my heel if I'm not careful. Guy at the store pointed me towards a wide since he said they run a bit narrow. Given that I'm using a wide and it feels pretty normal to me, I'd say he was probably right.

This book is built on a curved last, and despite the supposedly "wide" fit in the EE size, it curves in so sharply that my outer two toes get burned on a hike of any length. Moreover, the plastic heel counter does not break in, so I continue to get blisters despite tape. The ankles fit too tightly and caused pain on ankle bones. I made a device from PVC pipe and golf balls and laced them tightly around this for about two weeks. That stretched them enough to be tolerable in the ankles. Because of the heel blisters and tight toe space, they aren’t usable for hiking. Since they’ve been worn outside, I can’t return them, so they’re pretty much good only for gardening. I have Asolo 520s (a leather boot) that fit OK, in part because they break in. Conclusion: if you have a wide foot that is squarish in shape, these boots probably aren’t going to work well.

Great all purpose boot - Comfortable and fit true to size. Wore them on a 4 hour hike 2 days after I bought them with minimal issues. Actually had the shoes shipped to Tucson, AZ for my hiking adventure and they were there when I arrived. Zappos has great service!!! I would highly recommend these boots.

I had this boot during a 260mile excursion in the High Sierra Backcountry; more rugged than any weeklong hunting excursion in Wyoming! The FSN boot held up amazingly! I got two minor blisters, considering I ascended and decended countless 10K+ mountains with a 50lbs ruck. The fact that they’re not vibram soles had nothing to do with their performance. Besides, after the mountain excursion, the boots kept trucking for about 200 more miles before serious wear made them less than ideal for backcountry use.

The product range covers footwear from the most technical alpine demands to the more relaxed leisure activities line, permitting Asolo to be one of the few companies in the world to completely cover the outdoor area. More importantly, their footwear has conquered the most important mountains in the world with sponsored athletes JC Lafaille and Tomaz Humar.

Asolo’s goal is to create great footwear for all of your outdoor needs, in all conditions, at all altitudes: from light walking to hiking, from backpacking to the most treacherous climbing - whether it be on ice or mixed terrain. Nice boot - The boot fits! I'm wearing a 14 wide, and my foot isn't cramped, and my toes don't bump on the way down. The sole isn't Vibram, and probably won't wear as well, and doesn't get as much traction. However, this boot is really comfortable. It is tough enough for rocky trails while laden with a pack, and feels like wearing a sneaker. When I lost my balance and stumbled into a creek, they stayed dry. One oddity, there is no removable insole. The Gore-Tex bootie is it!

Leather sneakers - Lot's of folks speak of the desert on this boot. Yep it works well there. As well as the high wet jungle in Peru. The idea of a desert is no unnoticed climate down south. Of course what boot will keep a good traction on wet stone other than a barefoot wrapped into the crevices. With proper arch support this boot fits better than any glove on the foot. Never mind the look, the only improvement would be loose the fabric eyelets. They only break under pressure. Alton

THE boot. This boot is the real deal. I have worn this boot for 4 years in two combat theaters. Snow, rain, desert, mtn....these boots perform. I am now on my second pair. If you want the boot that the real "Operators" wear this is it. Even if you are just a normal hiker this is the only boot you will ever need.

Way better than issue. Operators and Wanna-bes this is the all-terrain Gore-Tex boot for you. This boot will get you through the mountains, the desert, and whatever else might be thrown at you. They are the boots that any SF operator needs. Put those issue desert boots in the locker, and pick these up. The Asolo FSN 95 GTX breathe, and are waterproof. Anyone that thinks rain is not an issue in the desert hasn't been there when it rains. The traction is great and the soles are long lasting. The sole hardness can give some traction issues in wet conditions but it lessens with wear. The support and comfort are top notch. It takes about two weeks to really break them in, but they are comfortable right out of the box. Snow and Ice are also a bit treacherous in these, but the benefit vastly out weighs the drawbacks.

Traction - This is a good boot, with durability and looks. The traction, when it is wet is not good, I probably would not buy these again, because of the traction factor although it has been a good boot.

3 years of comfort - Bought this boot 3 years ago for backpacking and they did a great job. My weight is 235lbs. and I need good support, which the FSN's give. After two years the soles wore down on heavy use. Now I use them when I mow my half acre lawn. My only complaint is that when going downhill the traction was poor on this boot.

The Ultimate Shoe - Most people are drawn to this shoe by its extraordinary looks. After getting over the sticker shock and purchasing a pair, they will surely understand the cost of this awesome shoe. It really is a boot and a good looking one at that. I am on my third pair and will hope that Asolo never quits producing this gem. You will not be disappointed with the way this shoe makes your feet feel "correct."

First impressions - They fit great. They pinched my little toe a tiny bit at first, but that went away once they were broken in a tiny bit. I’ve used them for some snow-shoeing as well as a couple hikes and around town in the snow. My only complaint is that on wet rock or concrete, they tend to slip pretty easily. Other than that, they are some of the most comfortable boots I’ve ever had and I would recommend them to anyone.

Breaking in boots - I received my boots several weeks ago and the mild weather in the New York area provided an ideal opportunity to break them in. I have traveled over 40 miles so far, and as I sink into the shoe, each hike is better. I have wide feet, and I really liked the Double EE size I ordered. The boots are sturdy, light and grip well.

They fit and are comfortable! My husband is VERY picky about the fit of his shoes and is hard to buy for. The Asolo's were worth every penny. He loves them and I'm happy that I am done shopping for a while!

Getting better - These are my first pair of real hard core hiking boots. I mostly bought these because they were an editor choice award in a backpacking magazine, so I figured they knew more than I did. The boots are very light weight and well made. I first had a problem with my right toe being pinched. But have readjusted laces (skipped 1st eyelets) and now feel much, much better. As far as fit I wear a 14 wide in New Balance running shoes and these fit just fine 14 w. good room in toes. (Now that pinching is solved.) For me I was hoping that I would put these on and feel like and old base ball glove, they don’t. They feel like boots. Light weight boots but still boots. The insole is very thin. I still getting them broke in. Hope this helps.

Zappos is the best! I bought these shoes and within 3 days I had them! Wow, Zappos rocks! Now for the shoes: They are the best shoes I have seen, tried GIJoes and REI, all those places for nice shoes, but this beats even the flashy brands like NorthFace. Workmanship looks great. The sole feels great as well. This seems like a very sturdy shoe. I will report back here in about 100 miles.
