Being a runner myself I have wear nothing but Asics so I bought a pair for my 9 year old daughter and loves these shoes. She thinks the colors are cool and say they fit great. They have inspired her to go running with me.
Brands I'd also recommend: asics for adults

I bought these for my young niece and she absolutely loves them! She wears them to school every day and she said they are super comfortable. The contrast in the black (shiny & matte) looks great with the fuchsia pink.

These are very attractive and fit great, but didn't wear very well. The toes scuffed up very easily. They looked worn only after a week of wear. I don't think that my daughter is harder on shoes than the average 5 year old.
