My 8yo daughter needed a good shoe for fencing and I couldn't find any for children. I did find the ASICS adult fencing shoes, and lo and behold, these cheer shoes look a LOT like fencing sneakers! I read the reviews indicating that they were narrow, and she has a wide foot, so I ordered a 1/2 size larger. The shoe is well constructed but it does have a snug fit. I'm not sure if cheer shoes are meant to be worn w/out socks or with only very lightweight socks because the inside of the ASICS Kids Cheer sneaker has a soft, terry like lining. Given that, and the snugness, my daughter wears them without socks to fence and finds them very comfortable, supportive and flexible enough for the footwork required for fencing. I was going to submit a photo, but alas, feature not available.
