These shoes are very comfortable with a soft heel strike. I typically don't spend as much on running shoes but these are well worth it. They breathe well and are super light. Seems like they'll hold up pretty well too. At this point I cannot find a downside to them other than they are not made for everyday wear in the winter as your feet will freeze.

This shoe is just OK. There are better options for a lower price in my opinion. Nike Vomero +5 and Asics Gel Nimbus 12 are two I have tried that I like a lot better. Just doesn't seem to be worth the price of the shoe.

I ordered these for my son who is having trouble running due to overpronation caused by flat feet. He loves them. These shoes are helping him take his running to another level. Love these shoes. I wear them almost every day all year long. I've worn the Asics Gel Kayano for over twenty years. My orthopedic doctor recommended them because they have gel in the rear foot and forefoot. I have some "drop foot" and this shoe actually helps lift my foot as I walk. They also absorb impact well. I got my wife started wearing them 10 years ago. If you ever wear these shoes, you won't want any other athletic shoes.

The last great Kayano was the 15. The 16 and the 17 feel clunky and have less support.

Great shoe and nice update. However, the Kayano 17 is at least a half size bigger than the previous model. The toe box is also bigger. I would size down a half-size if ordered again.

I'm 6'4 at 220. Run 4-5 miles 2-3 times a week. I've been wearing the Kayano since version 12 but skipped the 16 because I wanted to try the Brooks Adrenalin that was recommended by the local running store. Well, I'm back in the Kayano. While I'm a neutral runner, and tend to land on my forefoot, I have no problems with this shoe. It's light and comfortable. In a few months I'll see if I regret choosing the black color (summer heat) but I doubt I will as it is very well ventilated. I added the green Superfeet from the Brooks shoes.

Great shoe, not sure I like it as much as the 16 yet. Both 16 and 17 halted years of shin splints. Now have plantar because I can run further without my shins hurting. Zappos...what to say other than amazing. The best impulse shopping site on the web. Order in the evening and get it the next morning.

Let me start this by saying that I purchased the shoes yesterday at 5pm and they were in my door today by noon (19 hours). Zappos, you guys are the absolute best. As far as the shoes go, I absolutely love them. Just ran 6 miles today in very hilly terrain and they were absolutely amazing. I can only imagine they feel significantly better after I break them in. I am used to running on Asics DS Racer, but this is a very nice change of style. A lot more snug, excellent support and surprisingly light. Completely recommend it!

I used to be a New Balance man, because I am someone who works out seriously and I require a wide width. Though New Balance was comfortable, I did not find them as stylish or as durable as the Asic Gel Series. I have had pairs that lasted up to 3 years (I rotate 2-3 pairs). They are light, true to size, and as someone with flat feet as well I could not ask for better arch support. Finally I found a nice quality sneaker and I no longer to need to purchase popular brands a size larger to accommodate for the lack of width. The Kayano-17 comes in some nicer designs however that are not made in a wide width. I wish Asics would realize the market for us wide footed individuals and make all styles available! Overall I give the shoe 5 stars.

Pricey, but well worth the money. Shoe works well with my orthotics and is the only shoe I can wear and not have heel pain. Zappos service rocks!

I'm on my 2nd pair of Kayano 17's. First pair lasted about 400 miles before the EVA midsole wore out. Which is about average for a higher end running shoe. My first pair were 1/2 size larger and didn't fit very well, so I downsized to my true size for my 2nd pair and they fit and feel great. No blisters or hot spots with the true size. These are wearing good and have about 60 miles on them so far. Overall a great running shoe with good pronation control.

Unfortunately, seems like Asics has changed their sizing for this shoe. 8.5 was way too big. If you are purchasing, pay attention to the European equivalents, not the US sizing.

This shoe has been excellent thus far. I use them for running and exercise in general. I have medium to high arches, and it provides excellent support for my entire foot. Whether walking or running, the cushion under the foot is very apparent, yet they provide excellent stability for those types of activities. They're pretty close to true-to-size, if not a touch large.

I have always been partial to Asics but this shoe blows all my previous Asics away! The feel of this shoe is awesome.
