First time with Asics. Bought them due to Runner's World recommendation. Haven't worn very much yet, but so far the 1170's are comfortable. A little loose in the heel, so a B width might have been better, but these are fine for my slow running.

I'm a 6'1 at 195lb competitive neutral runner who needs exceptional cushioning and this sneaker absolutely has it! I have a bad hip flexor, and had recently run in a pair of Brooks, but felt the hip jarring on the hills. I took the Asics Gel 1170 on an 18 mile run today and not an ounce of pain. These sneaks are awesome! If you're a bigger runner, or just love running on pillows...get them!
Brands I'd also recommend: None...this is THE shoe!

I am extremely happy with this shoe. I have relatively new Dr. Scholls in a pair of 5 year old shoes I received in basic training (that's what I've been running in until I got these), and I didn't need to put them in the Asics. It's just all around an extremely nice shoe.

Unfortunately I have a hard time buying shoes that fit right. With Zappos I never have a problem retuning something that just doesn't fit right after weeks of trying them on at home. This time it took 4 tries before I happy with this pair. It is never a hassle dealing with Zappos. I recommend them to all my family and friends.

My son loved the shoes and he needed them right away because he was leaving for vacation. The person taking my order helped me out and sent them priority at no extra charge so they would arrive before he left for vacation. I will order from Zappos again and soon.

I'm pleased with my purchase and happy to wear this shoe. It fits well and needed no breaking-in period. I had another model of Asics Gel prior to this one that I wore out. This fits a little differently in terms of where the highest point of the arch is but that hasn't been a problem. I notice the difference but it doesn't cause any discomfort. As usual, Zappos has been fabulous with their service and returns policy. I tried another brand with this one and sent the other one back - Zappos is a dream to work with when that sort of thing happens.

I bought these to replace older model GT-2120's that I'd run flat. ASICS sizing is very consistent in all the pairs that I've owned, and true to what seems to be my size across most brands, which is a 9.5. The cushioning technology is slightly less advanced than my 2120's, but there are many models that are slightly more expensive than these if you have concerns. I wore these for the first time during a 10-mile race, and they felt fantastic, so unless you have serious feet issues these should serve you well. As far as style goes, they're typical running shoes. Look great in the gym, but I wouldn't wear them to impress anyone.
