So they assembled a group of top footwear engineers and designers, and set them on the task of creating the world's most technically innovative performance riding boots. They started by re-designing the outsole, rethinking the arch support system and finally taking a hard look at the suitability of "traditional" last shape and fit. While they were building the technology platform for Ariat boots, they were also talking to hundreds of top riders who helped in the design and development of the final product.
In 1993, Ariat shipped their first pair of boots, and today Ariat is the world leader in performance equestrian footwear, offering a full range of English and Western riding boots, work boots and casual footwear — plus new lines of performance apparel and accessories to fully outfit today´s equine athletes and equestrian-inspired lifestyle enthusiasts.
Whether you are a professional equestrian athlete or a novice rider, you will find an Ariat boot with the performance technology that is perfect for you. Ariat boots cushion the foot while stabilizing the heel and arch, dramatically reducing fatigue and stress to the feet, legs and lower back. This amazing technology can also be found in a variety of casual Ariat shoes — providing you with comfortable and stylish alternative for those relaxed, easy-going days.

I bought these boots about two months ago and I am just in love with them! To give you some background on me, I have a very hard time finding comfortable shoes and boots because I have been genetically blessed with bunions. However, I'm still in my twenties and refuse to be totally unfashionable. Combine these two "issues," and it's almost impossible to find shoes. But these boots have been wonderful! They don't have a ton of arch support, but they do have nice, comfy heel cushions. The leather is also so soft and high quality that they formed to my feet in almost no time flat, hardly had to break them in. Also, the leg shaft is somewhat narrow-medium which was a perk for me and my skinny calves. Lastly, these boots are just so well made; the zippers are tough and I'm sure will never break. I can't say enough good things about these boots! Beyond comfort, these boots go with everything! I have worn them casually with leggings and jeans and also with skirts and dresses. I hardly ever want to take them off. If I had to mention any drawbacks at all, it would be that there isn't much tread on the sole, so these aren't so great for icy conditions. But besides that, they are super!

Love the boot but, could not zip them up. I have never had an issue with boots before but the top of these are very small. Unfortunately I have to return.

These are absolutely perfect! They fit me like they were custom ordered. I have 14'' calves and I was worried the circumference would be too small, but they fit totally perfectly, even allowing enough room for my jeans! They are well-constructed, made of high quality leather and are super comfortable. I was worried I wasn't going to be able to find boots that I wanted in my price range, and then I came across these. I love that they are legit equestrian boots, too. They are super stylish and immediately all my girlfriends wanted to know what brand they were and where I purchased them. Fantastic job, Zappos!

These are great riding boots! I originally ordered Franco Sartos which were not quite right. The Ariats are hands down better quality boots. The leather is georgous! I am athletic with 14" calves. Bootcut and skinny jeans tuck in perfectly and do not gap.

I just got these and they are gorgeous. The leather is very high quality and beautifully finished. The comfort of the footbed is what you would expect from Ariat. I wore them the first day for hours and they did not need breaking in. I have slender calfs (just under 13") and I often have a problem with boot shafts not being trim enough. These are perfect. They look neat and tidy and very elegant. I got the black with Cordovan. I am usually between an 8 and 8½M, and I ordered the 8½. They fit fine, with room for socks. The toe-box is sleek, but roomy enough so that you do not feel cramped. I absolutely love these.
I'd also recommend: Merrell, Clarks, Ecco, Timberland

I love these boots, but I cannot imagine how anyone with calves larger than 14" would wear them. Mine are thin, just under 14", and it was a little uncomfortable wearing them over skinny jeans, but I did it because they looked great! When I wore them with just tights, they were perfect, with just a little room to spare. That being said, the boots themselves are absolutely beautiful. Well made, perfect leather, understandably elegant. I bought my regular size (my feet are a little on the wide side) and they were supremely comfortable on the first wear. I would buy the brown also, but they are out of stock. If your legs are on the more slender side, these are beautiful boots to wear with either jeans or skirts.
