So they assembled a group of top footwear engineers and designers, and set them on the task of creating the world's most technically innovative performance riding boots. They started by re-designing the outsole, rethinking the arch support system and finally taking a hard look at the suitability of "traditional" last shape and fit. While they were building the technology platform for Ariat boots, they were also talking to hundreds of top riders who helped in the design and development of the final product.
In 1993, Ariat shipped their first pair of boots, and today Ariat is the world leader in performance equestrian footwear, offering a full range of English and Western riding boots, work boots and casual footwear — plus new lines of performance apparel and accessories to fully outfit today´s equine athletes and equestrian-inspired lifestyle enthusiasts.
Whether you are a professional equestrian athlete or a novice rider, you will find an Ariat boot with the performance technology that is perfect for you. Ariat boots cushion the foot while stabilizing the heel and arch, dramatically reducing fatigue and stress to the feet, legs and lower back. This amazing technology can also be found in a variety of casual Ariat shoes — providing you with comfortable and stylish alternative for those relaxed, easy-going days.

Gorgeous boot! Quality, quality, quality! I finally succumbed to temptation after looking at this boot for several months. Alas it is just a tad to tall for me so it pinches on the side of my knee. (I'm 5'9 and a 33 inch inseam.) Sorry to send these treasures back. :(

I just got a pair of these. They are still in the "break in" phase (I'm a total weenie about breaking in riding boots) ~ but the main reason I got these is because they felt like they would be the easiest to break in of all the boots I tried. I usually wear a size 7, but I ended up with a 7 1/2. They don't feel too big at all. Man, have riding boots come a long way or what? If anyone is from the 'old days' you'll know what I'm talking about. These boots fit me better than any other tall riding boot I've ever owned. Can't wait till they are broken in. My only wish is that the foot bed was a bit wider. It's not pinchy on me, but I'd like it to be wider because then my foot would fill out my stirrups better/feel more like a solid base. (That base goes a long way to feeling more secure in the saddle & over fences.) My Blundstones that I use as paddock boots are the perfect width for my irons. Oh, the girl doing the video? Not sure she was informed that these are riding boots :-> The back flap around the ankle has a spur rest on it.

This boot is absolutely gorgeous in person. It is true to size for anyone wondering. The boot requires very little breaking in. This boot feels like I'm wearing my favorite pair of tennis shoes...absolutely fabulous product! A bit pricey but worth every penny!

I love these boots! The Volant vented back riding boots are the most comfortable pair of boots I've ever owned in my life! I know I'm a bit overly excited about writing a review (which I seldom do) but these boots are FABULOUS! I read that several of Ariat's designers were once designers for Reebok. I absolutely believe that after wearing my Volants! They ran very much true to size for me. I purchased an 8.5 medium full in the Volants. My foot is average in width I guess. Actually I'd say my foot is just a tiny little bit on the wide side. (I have never bought a wide shoe though...I always buy average width). I assume where it says on my size 8.5B that the "B" stands for average. 8.5B was perfect in size, width, and height. I know for sure that I wear a "Large" in the Ariat Terrain half chaps. My exact measurements are 18.5 (height) and 16.5 (calf size). I think the description could be deceiving to non-riders because they are called the Ariat Vented Tall Back Zip boots. I'm pretty sure the boots come in a tall but I believe Ariat put "tall" in the description of the name in order to tell riders that the boots can be used for schooling as well as for showing. Make sure to go by Ariat's size guide and to measure properly (also measure with whatever breeches you might wear plus socks. I believe Ariat suggests sitting in a chair in order for someone to get your exact measurements. I know it made a little difference in measurement with my breeches, etc on) The Volants required almost NO break in time. I tell everyone at the barn that wearing them is like wearing my favorite tennis shoes. I put my pair on the first day and never even thought about break in. I get so many compliments on my boots. I wear my boots all day during the week. They fit like a glove! I debated on spending so much money on my boots but they are worth Every single penny. I can not stress that enough...you won't be disappointing I promise! If I had the money I'd buy every boot in the Volant collection! Also, I forgot to say that I found my Volants on SALE on Zappos right after they came out! Zappos had one pair in my exact size needed! Thanks Zappos! My feet certainly thank you! Happy shopping to equestrians and non-equestrians alike! I would truly recommend purchasing the Volants! Best money I ever spent! Margaret :)
