So they assembled a group of top footwear engineers and designers, and set them on the task of creating the world's most technically innovative performance riding boots. They started by re-designing the outsole, rethinking the arch support system and finally taking a hard look at the suitability of "traditional" last shape and fit. While they were building the technology platform for Ariat boots, they were also talking to hundreds of top riders who helped in the design and development of the final product.
In 1993, Ariat shipped their first pair of boots, and today Ariat is the world leader in performance equestrian footwear, offering a full range of English and Western riding boots, work boots and casual footwear — plus new lines of performance apparel and accessories to fully outfit today´s equine athletes and equestrian-inspired lifestyle enthusiasts.
Whether you are a professional equestrian athlete or a novice rider, you will find an Ariat boot with the performance technology that is perfect for you. Ariat boots cushion the foot while stabilizing the heel and arch, dramatically reducing fatigue and stress to the feet, legs and lower back. This amazing technology can also be found in a variety of casual Ariat shoes — providing you with comfortable and stylish alternative for those relaxed, easy-going days.

These are real boots, not fashion boots, but they have the neatest features of any real boot that I own - and I own plenty of both kinds. They could almost make it as fashion boots. (For those of you thinking about getting them for that reason, they will look very bulky with your skinny jeans.) They have a lavender lining and great detailing on all the metal parts, so they don't look like your husband's boots. I have owned Ariat boots for many years, and these lacers are exactly what I would have expected. The sole is composite but smooth, so they don't pick up that much in the barn even though you won't easily slip in them. They easily run a half size big - maybe a full size. These are boots to plan on wearing for a decade.

Years ago, maybe 20 years ago Ariat produced an all leather upper, leather lined paddock boot that became a part of your foot it was so fabulous. About 10 years ago quality nose dived, still I myself am wearing 2 pairs of Ariat paddocks size 11 made of genuine leather dandruff lined in fabric that wicks. I decided to take the plunge and order this boot. The kiltie is not the same leather as the rest of the upper. The tongue of the boot is fabric. Only the collar of the lining is leather and it too is such thin junk we can call it genuine leather dandruff. The uppers are quite nice but and they are attached to the wicky fabric. I really hoped for something almost as nice as my original pair purchased at Nordstrom who no longer carries Ariat. That original pair were a half size too small and yet I wore them for 10 years. I wore them enough to wear the heel half off. And then with all that wear on them they were still so good I sold them at online auction with 20 bids for only 15 dollars less that what I had paid for them at Nordstrom. So sad a downfall for Ariat formally such great boot makers.

I could not believe that I could get a perfect fit from online orders. The Lacer not only fits well but is very sturdy. It goes well with casual or dress-up attire. I have been looking for a lace up shoe that would support a weakened arch and this shoe fit the bill. Thank you, Zappos

These are great boots. However, they do run large, as I later found out by reading reviews after I ordered my normal size. But, when I went down 1/2 size, they fit great.

I ordered a 6.5 I usually wear 6.5 or 7. They were too big so I ended up with a 5.5 and they fit great. Love Zappos, they sent me the smaller size before I even sent back the shoes. I ended up taking off the leather fringe thing, I think it made the shoe look too clunky. I live in the desert and these are perfect winter shoes.

Really great boots. I bought them for showing in horse shows. Very comfortable. I wore them all day and had no problems. No break in necessary. I wear an 8, but got a 7.5 and they were perfect! I also have very narrow feet and these fit like a glove. So if your feet are wide, they might not work. I have several Ariat boots and they are always comfy right out of the box!
