Wow! I have been looking 15 years for a heel that I can wear for more than 10 minutes. I have an auto-immune related and irritating situation where the ball of my foot gets easily painful and swollen if I try to walk (let alone dance) in anything less flexible and padded and roomy than a Nike Free--and can become so swollen, if I try to keep the offending shoes on, that it will impair my ability to walk, with or without the shoe, for hours, and sometimes into the next day. I've tried Easyspirit, Hushpuppies, Clarks, Aerosoles, Dansko, Naot, Privo, Arcopedico, every shoe brand that has the word "soft" in it...and others I'm sure I'm forgetting. I've found some good in all these brands--but when I recently tried the Aravon Maya, which has a 1&1/2 inch heel, it was a revelation! I wore them to a party (with almost no pain, no serious swelling, and no subsequent repercussions) without ever having to put on the Aetrex maryjane flats I've always got stashed in my bag when I attempt heels. So I crossed my fingers and ordered this shoe, the Anna, which has a 2 & 1/2 inch heel, and believe it or not, I can wear these things! They are as comfortable as the Maya's. I haven't worn them to a party yet, but I've already walked around the house much longer than I could have with any of my previous heels. There is something about these shoes that keeps the impact of each step off the balls of the feet. The padding is wonderful. Oddly, the soul of the Anna is not as incredibly flexible as I would have expected on a shoe that works so well for my foot (though it is flexible). Both the Anna and the Maya run wide. I am usually a 2x wide, but based on the reviews, I ordered a regular wide in both styles, and they border on too wide (but as each design features a strap, and the padded bottoms seem to hold onto your foot, they don't slip at all--and I'll stick with the extra room). They are both actually very cute, even a little sexy, for a comfy shoe, if you can forgive the wide, round toe. I can finally wear something slinky or sophisticated with shoes that are congruent! Very happy. And many thanks to Zappos, who make it so easy to keep searching for the perfect shoe! They should maybe expand into the matchmaking business.

The width was great and I have owned this brand's shoe before so I knew the money was worth it. But the side of the shoe comes up to high on the outside of my ankle. I would get a blister every time I wear them so back they go.
I'd also recommend: Barefoot Freedom by Drew

Although this shoe is cute in the picture, it looks clunky with pants. I would never wear it with a dress. That being said, it is VERY comfortable. I find that whatever it's lined with gives off a bit of an odor. I do not typically have foot odor. Would I buy again? Probably not.
