About Anuschka Handbags
During the 1980's, Anuschka® handbags founder, Swapan Basu, chanced upon the opportunity to make hand painted accessories; he quickly accepted and sought the help of his best friend and wife, Roma. In 1984 she began designing Anushcka's® signature hand painted bags, all the while developing and refining the method of painting over the years. Today, the perfected process used on their handbags is a closely guarded family secret. Their son, Bhaskar, wanted to keep the family business alive, and through his vision, Basu Corporation was founded and in the year 2000 sold its first Anuschka® handbag. Bhaskar encouraged the use of bold new designs to push the handbag company into mainstream fashion.
Given the extent of the process used, it was hard to find artists that were willing to spend hours in a factory painting these elaborate designs on handbags. When faced with the challenge, Anuschka's® co-founder, Roma, set out to look for unemployed youths with a basic sense of art and an eagerness to make an honest living. Through her search she recruited a handful of boys and girls who were either unemployed, socially backward or barely making minimum wage. Today, Anuschka® continues to afford these young artists the chance to make a good living and provide for their family through painting handbags.
Translated, Anuschka® means "like no other". The first time you lay eyes on these truly unique handbags, you will undoubtedly agree that that is the perfect descriptoion of this line of hand painted bags. Anuschka® handbags are crafted from superior quality soft cow leather. The line features a wide array of bags and accessories, ranging from cosmetic cases and checkbook holders to everyday totes and evening bags. Every one of Anuschka's® handbags are decorated with a selection of abstract and natural scenes all depicted in muted colors in a variety of shades and hues. Through this process, each handbag is transformed into a one of a kind object of timeless art.

I love everything about this purse, except the lack of external storage, which is important to me. If it had another zipper or slip pocket, I'd be getting it.
This is the most useful of the Anushka's I've ordered, but I really wanted an abstract twilight. I may be making a mistake, but I am returning it.
This is a small purse, which is what I wanted, but it is really small. It can fit a wallet, but not much else in the main compartment, and barely anything in the smaller one.
I did not know until I bought this that a wallet could be beautiful. The photo does not quite capture how vibrant the colors are. In addition, the wallet is functional and well made. What I really like is that the color pallet and pebbled leather background makes accidental ballpoint pen smudges less obvious, that is a problem that I have encountered with other nice leather wallets and datebooks.
Very pretty. I like a medium size bag and this was perfect. It is very pretty and the art work is different and lovely. I bought the Anuschka spray to help protect the bag. I have been using it every day since I received it. I will definitely be buying more of these in the future.
Zappos is the best company that I have ever dealt with! I received my handbag in one day! I absolutely love my handbag. It is just the right size to hold everything you need. The strap is a bit too long for me but will take to leather shop and have it shortened a bit. The painting is beautiful and I cannot wait for the co Pimentos that I am sure will come! I will definitely buy more in future, I am hooked on Anuschka!
I have wanted an Anuschka bag for over a year now. I must have looked at each one at least a dozen times but could not decide. When I saw this one, I knew it was the perfect choice for my best friend as a Christmas gift. When it came in the mail, I was extremely happy with the size, shape and most of all, the colors. What a beautiful bag! My friend was so surprised and happy with her gift and has received nothing but rave compliments on it. I hope to find my perfect bag soon, also.
I have this handbag in Hawaiian Hibiscus and just love it. I've had it now for over 6 months, and it wears amazingly well. I get compliments all the time. I have no problem with the paint coming off at all! I'm getting the wallet to match!

This is the most beautiful bad I have. The picture does not do it justice. The colors are vibrant and the golds and oranges have such a beautiful sheen to them. The design on the back and front is gorgeous. Can't wait to buy more. Bye bye Coach!
Bought this bag for my 20 year old daughter. She loves it! Just the right size. Definitely not a large tote, but big enough for wallet, sunglasses, keys, etc. Beautiful colors and well made.

This is the perfect handbag! Not too big, not too small. There is room for everything I carry on a daily basis and it is beautiful. The only cons to this bag are that the handles need to be just a bit longer to go over your shoulder with a coat/jacket on and I am not a big fan of double handles. Other than that, you can't go wrong.
I love this purse and the detail painting...it's roomy, classy and stylish. I am blessed to have this wonderfully well crafted purse added to my wardrobe.
Wound up returning the Anuschka 349-AC because of the shoulder strap - this strap is maybe 1/4" wide when it needs a flat strap that is at least 1/2" if it's to be worn comfortably.
This is my favorite bag! I traveled with it and found it allowed me to keep everything in a convenient spot. The colors are gorgeous! It goes with everything, and I am always getting compliments on it. I would recommend treating it with the protective spray which Anuschka makes to preserve the beautiful artwork.

The paint wears off very quickly, in just a few uses. I thought they were treated to prevent this, but evidently they are not.
