Allrounder by Mephisto

I was shocked when I received these shoes. I must have thought that since they were a Mephistos they would have a contoured footbed. They do not. The foot bed is comfortable and soft but there is no contour and no arch support which is what I was looking for. The width of the straps is wide, very roomy for a thick foot. My feet are long and slender so they felt big and there are no adjustment straps. As far as I can see there is no reason to charge so much for these simple sandals.

I have this same shoe from 2009, which I wear all the time. It had some arch; I add cushions to make it work.THIS PAIR has NO ARCH at all! I am shocked. I will no longer be able to order these online; I will have to go back to trying on shoes endlessly to fit my high arch--such a shame; I'll take my old pair to Europe and stop telling everyone I meet to buy this model.

Very cute, but very large. Have to return and bummed because I think they would have been great.

Let's get the obvious out of the way first - this shoe won't win any beauty contests but if you are looking for a great walking shoe, they are extraordinary. I ordered these in a 10 medium, and with a thin athletic sock, they are a perfect fit. Wore them constantly on a recent trip to France and walked 5-6 miles per day on all kinds of terrain. No matter what the weather, or the surface (uneven cobblestones, wet/slick trails) the shoes were rock solid and so comfortable. My feet never felt tired, even when the rest of my body was exhausted. No blisters, no issues, just cool, extremely comfy, supportive shoes. Although they are pricey, they were worth every penny. One minor cosmetic problem (besides the lack of overall aesthetics in the shoe's appearance) is that I got them in the blue suede/canvas combo and the suede got "spotty" from the rain. I think a suede brush will handle this. If you have a trip where you'll be doing lots of walking or if you are on your feet all day, these shoes are worth it - you won't be disappointed.

I loved the way the shoe looks but I had to add an insert for more arch support since I have trouble with fallen arches. Hopefully, they will now work out.

Wear a 9 usually and the 9.5 was too big. So the fisherman sandals in a 9 are too small and I've ordered several other Mephistos in 9.5's because of that and now have to return them and order 9's. Sizing can be such a pain. Thank goodness for Zappos shipping policy! Smart for them to realize sizes vary, and we customers need to be able to try several to get it right. Really wanted to like the looks of this shoe on the foot but it just didn't do it for me. If the fit had been better, might have kept them for comfort's sake. They were comfortable right out of the box. Seemed wide and clunky compared to others even if I ordered down a 1/2 size. I do notice that this style of Mephisto shoe tends to pucker out on the outside face of the shoe above the arch (where left shoe faces right shoe when walking). Something in the tailoring causes the baggy fit on these styles as opposed to the more form fitting lace ups. Seems like a more tailored cut and seaming would counter that. Otherwise, I'm growing fond of some of the Mephisto styles. Always love Zappos service, staff, and policies.

Darling style. Love the venting. Carbon is really a pretty color. Wear a 9. Size was perfect. Just didn't like the puffiness at the sides between my 2 feet. Not enough support there or the cut doesn't seem quite right. If that doesn't bother you, it's a great looking, super comfy shoe.

Wear a 9. Ordered the 40 which is a 9 1/2 thinking I'd need the space for a sock, but it was way too baggy and long. Ordered the 39 which is perfect and doesn't crowd my toes at all at the end. Very comfortable. Like the removable insole and may add a tiny bit more arch support. Kept the navy even though it's a little baggy at the sides between your two feet (to the side of the arch). Would have kept the black as well except for the baggy area plus the navy were pretty hot on a 70 degree day. Will have to wear a sock for some ventilation. Great for winter; not so great for summer without socks. Intended to use this for walking but may need to rethink that and use something with a little more support. Good for walks around town, shopping, etc but not for 2-3 mile walks.

Looking for a comfortable shoe with at least a bit of style for walking in Europe. Thought this might be the shoe but was disappointed by the fit - too wide in the heel - and the style -leather is really stiff. Like the kind of retro look of these but the fit just didn't work for my narrow foot.

I usually wear a 9. Ordered the 40 because the Julie sandal in a 39 had been too short (heel hung over the back when walking). Niro 40 was too big. Ordered 2 pairs, black and blue, in a 39 hoping they would fit. Perfect! So comfortable for leisurely walking. Would love to see muted colors in a similar style like burgundy, olive, gold, old rose, deep turquoise, etc. Love you, Zappos.

Zappos' great service and return policy is what has inspired me to purchase so many pairs of shoes recently. I have avoided the shoe shopping process in stores because there was such a limited selection or they were out of my size. I love Zappos' return policy and the helpful review process. Hope the manufacturers read these reviews! Because of guidance from reviews, I finally got brave enough to order several styles and sizes until I found brands, styles, and a fit and comfort level that works for me. I don't know how they do it, but cheers for Zappos and their wonderful employees! Finally! My shoe shelves have many new great fitting, super cute pairs of shoes...all from Zappos. I wear a 9 but ordered a 40 in the Niro because the Julie sandal ran a tad short in a 39 (heel hung over). The Niro 40 (9 1/2) was too big, so I crossed my fingers with hope and ordered the 39. Perfect Mephisto fit and comfort! Great for walks around the lake with my new puppy. Wish more colors were available in my size. Love you, Zappos!

I use these shoes for going back and forth to the club to swim. Easy to take on and off but good support.

A lot of fun to look at but not the right shoe for an MBT (original -- pre-2008) wearer. Feels empty, not enough padding and arch support.

Comfortable, well-made, sturdy sandal. Adjustable straps, so can be fitted securely on one's feet. I like the quality of the leather - soft and pretty too.

I need some black patent leather or lighter material for summer! I have a fused ankle and this shoe can be worn all the time. Thanks.

This is the fourth pair of Allrounders I have bought. They are extraordinarily comfortable and look great. They have a very long wear life (you can even throw them in the wash and they still look great). Oh, and buy them from Zappos! You can't beat the prices and service.

If you are going to wear this pair of sandals on wetlands, then please do not buy it. I own these Mephisto Alligator sandals. They were durable until I crossed a swamp in Southeast Asia, the sole begun to peel off starting from the tip of the toes, and the side of the sandals also begun to peel off.

The shoes were well made. The ankle strap was comfortable and easily adjusted. But the shoe really did not fit me. The shoe is wide across the ball of the foot. I wear an 8 or 8.5 B or 39 med. but these were much too wide I had a good half inch or more of excess shoe around my foot. Even though the ankle fit nicely the shoe flopped up and down because it was so wide at the ball of my feet. Also the arch support was too close to the ankle So the arch missed my arch by about an inch. It was not comfortable.

I have been wearing these Allrounders by Mephisto for working out for years. I hope they never go out of existence! They are so much more attractive than the dull cross-trainers and the like and can also be worn as regular shoes with or without socks. Good for walking as well.

Extremely comfortable and cute. Like walking on a cloud. Thinking of getting them in another color.
