Only Allen Edmonds - I've wanted a pair of burgundy and black saddle shoes for decades but the problem has been trying to get a pair in a "B" width. No manufacturer (that I've found) other than Allen Edmonds makes them in a narrow. I finally took the plunge and ordered them from Zappos and they were worth the investment. The shoes fit beautifully, look great and are extremely well made. As a couple of the reviewers have stated, if you take care of these, they should last a lifetime. I'm a repeat customer of Zappos and I have found their service and selection to be top drawer.

Great shoe! A very substantial shoe that fit well. I didn't have the breaking-in issues that other reviewers referred to. In fact, this shoe was comfortable right out of the box for me. Has a professional look that has a subtle difference from the standard brogues you see in the office.

Great look and fit! I love this shoe and love wearing it! Great look and great fit, not to mention a wonderful style! Wish AE would try out this shoe in different colors, like taupe with blue saddle. Somebody before said he wore this shoe barefoot -this is not a good idea, they will stink because the linings and insole will darken and hold sweat. Always wear socks with these or any other AE shoe, except possibly for loafers and sandals.

Brands I'd also recommend: AE McClain or Broadstreet - these shoes are awesome!

Great Looking Shoe - This is a great looking shoe. I tried others, but after seeing this shoe on line, I just couldn't resist. 3 Stars on comfort is because of the break in period. Otherwise, I think this shoe will match any color trousers I wear.

Cordovan and black dress saddle shoe - This is a hard shoe to find in high quality construction using full leather that can be resoled many times. It is a good value in the long term with superior leather that takes an excellent shine. Comfort is a 4 and not a 5 because there is a 2 day break in for the heavy leather. After that, it is a 5. It is a work (office) shoe for me with gray slacks, open collar white shirt, dark blue blazer, and cordovan belt. Allen Edmonds will also custom make them with true cordovan leather rather than cordovan calfskin... but that is more expensive.

My First AEs - This is my first pair of Allen Edmond shoes and I have only "Great Things" to say about them! The quality of the materials and workmanship is unsurpassed, as well as the look and fit. I have worn these shoes 3-4 days per week for the past 3 months and they only feel better each time. I love the "dress/casual" look, and since they are fully lined with soft leather, I always wear them without socks...very comfortable as my feet stay cool and dry!

Great Classic Shoe - I've had a pair of these for years and usually get a compliment every time I wear them. Allen Edmonds shoes cost more but they will last the rest of your life if you take care of them. I learned that from my Dad and it's true.

Great pair of shoes! I was a little taken back by the price tag of these shoes, however after the first day of wearing them I understand why they cost what they do. Simply put, these are a great pair of shoes. They have broken in nicely and comfortably, they feel great and look great. They have also stood up to the scuffs and scrapes better than any other shoe I have had! These are certainly worth the investment.

Collecting Heels and Saving Soles, NW, Indiana - Over the past 22 years I've purchased 9 pair of Allen Edmonds shoes, two of which have been the Shelton model (chile/brown and black shark skin). As a person who averages 5-plus miles of walking per day, I'm pleased to report each pair has proved to be very comfortable, incredibly durable, and unsurpassed manufacturing quality. The first pair of AEs I bought, back in 1981, (a Leeds model in burgandy cordovan leather) still sees regular service while showing virtually no deterioration of the leather upper. Congratulations Zappos on the new product line!
