About adidas Y-3 by Yohji Yamamoto
The "Y" stands for Yohji Yamamoto, the "3" represents adidas' three signature stripes and the "-" signifies the link between the two.
"Traveling means coming back home," Yohji Yamamoto explained backstage at the adidas Y-3 by Yohji Yamamoto collection for Autumn/Winter 2011-12. "We are always unconsciously wanting to come back. It is one of man's strongest desires." The collection was inspired by the nature of escape-on horseback, on foot, and into the hills. The adidas Y-3 by Yohji Yamamoto clothing collection is designed for the journey, not the destination and was realized with clothing that combined classic materials and silhouettes with futuristic and protective details like waterproof zippers, neoprene insets, holographic toggles, and ergonomic quilting.
Protective details were shown, which included exaggerated funnel-neck collars; simple modularity; voluminous, cocoon-like silhouettes; and intensive quilting on everything from hoods to coats to leggings. Prints and patches on select garments reflected the collection's theme, stating phrases like "Nowhere in Particular," "Homeward Bound," and "I'm on the Road."
The women's collection played greatly with volume and comfort, realized in hooded ponchos, elaborate cut-away dresses, wool puffer shrugs, pleated skirts with raw hems, and oversized wide-leg wool pants-all shown in tones of black, olive drab, and red. Y-3 for men followed a similar theme, showing army parkas, striped union suits, quilted work jackets in suede and wool, and cotton leggings inset with panels of Fair Isle knits.
Warmth and comfort were the themes for adidas Y-3 by Yohji Yamamoto accessories, showing oversize hooded scarves, quilted nylon hats, and gloves belted with three pieces of leather-a subtle play on the three-stripes tradition. Shoes for men and women combined the technical expertise of adidas with classical shapes and materials, like a Japanese warrior boot with a cutout sole for men, and an "origami" wedge heel for women.
Since September 2004, global retail success and growing demand from consumers have led Y-3 to open its own monobrand stores. In Tokyo, Yohji Yamamoto's city of residence, the first Y-3 flagship store is located close to his own signature store. Additional stores opened during 2007 in Beijing, Manchester, Paris and Miami. The first Y-3 flagship store in New York opened in February of 2008 in the Meat Packing District. A second location followed in Soho in September 2008. Additional stores in major cities across the USA, Asia and Europe are expected to open as well.
The ongoing success of the brand can be credited to the perfect blend of adidas' expertise and innovation in sport functionality and Yohji Yamamoto's signature sense of style.

These were the worst flip-flops I've ever owned. They hurt my feet and the black color came off after wearing them three times. Not worth the money!
A pimp in SF said my shoes were cool and he was in gators. Stylish, sturdy, snug shoes. Inside the shoe is like a pricey ice-skate. Support but not a comfort-based sport shoe. Overall flashy and they glow in the dark too.
These are super dope. I am a Small in most stuff but in these XS is perfect, so consider sizing down. my only wish is that they were less expensive. Super stylish, well made and subtly different than the 1000's of generic sweats out there. Y3 makes aggressive stuff and some of his pieces are not for everyone but they are always on the edge.
These shoes are awesome! Super stylish and look great in jeans or khakis.
Very dissatisfied! I bought these flip flops for one reason. They were orange. They were very expensive, but I bought them anyway thinking they would be a very good pair. Wrong! The very first day I wore them the color started peeling off! Don't waste your money like I did!

The quality of the leather/skins used for the construction of these shoes are superb. The white dye/coating puts other white shoes in a darker category.The lining of the insides/tongue/insole are quality leather. Insole is removable and cleanable. The cut/form of these sneakers are masculine and bold. This is not meant to be a walking/running shoe, but for a night out, they are plenty comfortable. I just bought these in black.
They look cool but the fit is off - feels hard to the floor. Yamamoto missed the form-fit-function with this one. All you really get is an over-priced black leather shoe with a glow-in-the dark sole that can't take exposure to sun light. Maybe it's for night crawlers.
Nice looking shoe, was very excited about owning a pair of these. Strap seemed larger than it should be. Felt loose on my foot (even at a half size smaller than my foot). Within 2 hours of wearing black insole began cracking on and small paint? chips, seems the Black coloring may be the wrong material or was applied incorrectly to the insole of this product. Did not expect this from an expensive Adidas product.
They are the best shoe for style. They are okay for comfort. These were different from the other style.

Wow! So hot! This shoe made a lot of people stop and stare. Very detailed and well put together. Certainly will not be my last pair of Y-3's. Regardless the price!
Very stylish, very well constructed. However, not very comfortable and pinches around the arch if you have wider than average feet. The M width isn't very forgiving.
Super happy with the purchase. This was the last piece in my size. After I bought it, it went on sale. That's the only problem.
These is a great shoe. Low profile, low profile sole, and very lightweight. Very versatile and perfect for the Spring/Summer. Love the Y-3 hit on the heel for that added cockiness, too. Wore these out for the first and 3 lovely ladies gave me their numbers. It’s a definite must cop!
